私はシンプルに世界を見ている。それは尽きせぬ喜びの源だ。
I see this world simply. It is a source of endless delight.
私の好きな写真は何も写っていないように見えて片隅で謎が起きている写真だ。
I do like photographs where somtimes everything's lost and in some corner something's going on and your'e not quite sure what it is.
写真を撮るとき、絵のことは考えなかった。写真を撮ることは、発見すること。それに対し、絵を描くことは創造することだ。
When I did photography, I wasn't taking of painting. Photography is about finding, and painting is diffirent. It's about making somthing.
私は単純なるものの美を信じている。もっともつまらないと思われているものに、興味深いものが潜んでいると信じているのだ。
I happen to those to blieve in the beauty of simple things. I believe that the most uninteresting thing can be very interesting.
私の写真が、人類の状況を改善することに貢献したことはないが、誰かに喜びを与えているとは信じていた。
My photography have not contributed to the improvement of mankind's condition, but I'd like to think that work I do gives others pleasure.
世界は他人への期待で満ちている。期待を無視する勇気があれば、面倒を楽しむこともできる。
We live in a world full of expectations, and if you have the courage you ignore the expectations. And you can look forward to trouble.
ときどき、夜中に目が覚め、マティスやセザンヌ、宗達の本を取り出す。それまで気づかなかった細部に、突然、魅(ひ)かれることがある。絵画は素晴らしい。
Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and take out a book on Matisse or Cezanne or Sotatsu. Taking is glorious.
本があるのは楽しかった。
I've enjoyed having books.
絵を見るのも楽しかった。
I've enjoyed looking at paintings.
誰かが一緒にいるのも楽しかった、互いに大切に思える誰かが。
I've enjoyed having someone in my life that I care about who cares abut me.
そういうことのほうが私には成功より大事だった。
I attached more impotance to that than I did to the idea of sourcess.
芸術は果てしない再評価の連続だ。
誰もがもてはやされ、やがて忘れられる。
そして、再びよみがえり、また忘れ去られる。それが、延々とつづくのだ。
Art consists of endless reevaluation：Someone is great, Then they're revived, then they're forgotten again. And it goes on and on and on.

安土忠久さんのガラスコップ
町田の『武相荘』で購入
白洲正子さんはよくこのコップで
ビールを飲んでいたそうです。
確かにそこそこの重さがあるので
ビールにぴったりです。
今日のあては大根の塩漬けに
とろろ昆布と柚子の皮和え
初冬にぴったりです。
飯ちゃわんの器は高瀬昌郎さん作。
