Every year, when I return home, I make my first visit to a shrine in the year, a tradition called Hatsumode in Japan.
It’s common to drink amazake (sweet sake) and eat dango dumplings when doing it.🍡

Well, lots of changes for REALITY in December!👀
The long-awaited "Avatar Shop" is now open, and "World Exclusive Emotes" have been added, greatly increasing the enjoyment of the app.✨
We are back again with lots of information on releases and updates!
We would be very happy to receive your feedback on our monthly REALITY survey as it is very encouraging!😊

■Virtual ISETAN World, released!

Isetan Mitsukoshi presents "REV WORLDS," and the Virtual Isetan World is now open for a limited time!

The "Virtual Isetan Shinjuku Store" is recreated in the REALITY World, and inside the show window of the building is a banner presentation of the REALITY’s Gachas!👀


You can enter the show window and play with mannequins, so you can decide to look cool by yourself, or wear the costume you got and have a banner match with your friends! Have fun with it the way it fits you better!

In addition, REV WORLDS, a communication app that utilizes the metaverse will have an in-app event called “Chocolat Event” starting on January 16!

The event is held in conjunction with the "Salon du Chocolat in Paris," where chocolatiers gather, and the rooftop of the virtual Isetan Shinjuku will be transformed to Chocolatmania specifications!
They also have cute chocolates and sweet avatar wear, so if you're interested, check this out too!

■Music Fest World feat. DIJI SHURI XR

REALITY Music Fest World feat. DIJI SHURI XR was open!

The 3D model was generated from photos submitted by the Shurijo Castle Shoden "Digital Restoration Project of Shurijo Castle for Everyone"...more than 80,000 photos were submitted from all over Japan and abroad!👀📸
You get to experience the very elaborate Shurijo Castle!




In front of Shurijo Castle, you can take pictures and dance the Kachashii with your friends!💃

We've added 18 new world-specific emotes that you can use in any world you want!

■The「Stream History」feature was added!

You can see the history of past streams from your profile and send the “Thank you message” even after the stream ended!

■Age-restricted zoning feature now available!

As a feature that has been especially desired in international servers, it is now possible to set the stream to "viewable only by adults (18 years of age or older)"!

Viewers under 18 years old will not be able to enter the stream if the setting above is turned on before the stream.
*The viewer will also not be displayed in some categories.

■Avatar Stickers Vol8 and Vol9 released!

8 new stickers, like the “How’s the progress?” and “Break time” were added!


And another 8 new stickers were added too!「NO!」「Good evening」and others!

■REALITY Special Broadcast

On December 16, 2022, we had our first REALITY Special Broadcast held completely in English, with DJ RIO, Super Easy and Thomas as the guests of the show.


A lot of the content talked about in the Special Broadcast was also covered in this issue of the REALITY Newsletter, but be sure to check the archive too so you can get to know what were REALITY’s initiatives in 2022 and future plans for 2023!

Future Updates

In REALITY, we share within the company the opinions and requests that we receive from our users and accumulate them in an opinion and requests list, so let’s check out some of those opinions and requests that we have received regarding the events and features that are being implemented in the app!

Metaverse!
I’m REALITY’s CEO, DJ RIO.🦊

I'm really into a smartphone game called Dungeon Squad these days.
It is a roguelike tower defense kind of game, but the pixel art characters are all very  cute, and even with simple rules, the more you play the game, the more you discover new strategies and combinations, and the deeper the strategy is, the more I am captivated by it.
Among them, my favorite character is Steno. She has strength in dark ranged attacks, so there is a lot of fun in how to align buffs and debuffs with other characters to raise the overall party's firepower while using her as the main focus.
And the frequency of updates is so great that the balance of the game is adjusted every few days or so, so the strategy sites are out of date and you have to find out by yourself! I think that having to figure out everything by yourself helps a lot in making the game more enjoyable, without checking every single thing in a strategy site.

So, ladies and gentlemen, Metaverse in 2023 too!

I’m Mukudorin, a REALITY Staff.

How did you spend your year-end and New Year's holidays?
I was really into an anime/manga called Summer Time Rendering.

To explain it briefly…
The main character, who is from a remote island, returns to his hometown for the first time in two years after hearing about his childhood friend's accident in the summer, but there is something inexplicable about it... It is a kind of science fiction.
It is an amazing work that condenses mystery, time leap, a little horror, suspense, and, well, many other elements (as always I have no vocabulary at all).
I think those who like "Higurashi: when they cry" and "STEINS;GATE" will enjoy this anime too. By the way, when is "Ciconia: when they cry” coming out...

Now, the "rendering" in "Summer Time Rendering" comes from the computer term "rendering," and I would like to talk about the "rendering" of REALITY. （Changing the topic to REALITY suddenly）
Rendering means “draw” or “expression”.

REALITY was actually a "video" sending service until about two years ago. The thing about sending video is that it sends a lot of "pictures," so there are a lot of delays and it eats up a lot of gigabytes, so watching 3 hours without a WiFi connection is very painful.
Thanks to "rendering," only "sound" and "motion information" are sent via communications, and viewers can now "draw" pictures on their own smartphones, which reduces latency and gigabyte consumption. As a result, we can now do things like "avatars can communicate with each other in real-time (e.g., play rock-paper-scissors with emotes)" and avatars can play games with each other.

“Rendering" is great because it is more “free”.
I hope to be able to do more things freely in REALITY in 2023!

Message from the Community Manager

Happy New Year!
I’m Thomas, REALITY’s International Community Manager.
In 2022 we started our activities in the Community Team, and with the help of every single one of you guys who always sends us your feedback, and the help of the whole community team (IKURA, TOBIKO, SHARI, Thomas, and Sara) we were able to advance A LOT with new updates, changes and more transparency to our users.
Of course, the path to improving REALITY so we can feel that we can “Become whoever we want” is still a long one, and I really hope you guys join us on this journey. Keep sending us your voices.
We also had some pretty big events in 2022, like the REALITY CON in Tokyo, and as we talked about in the Special Broadcast, next we’re planning to make this event happen in other countries too, so please keep your fingers crossed and wait for the news!
Lately, I’ve been watching a lot of your streams while playing Genshin (just more 3 days of commissions and I’ll finally get AR60, still no Yelan tho) and I always get surprised at how creative everyone is and how much REALITY can actually help people from all over the world to connect with each other. I get that a lot of you guys still have doubts about what kind of content is OK to create, and how we can improve REALITY, and I’m here exactly to help you guys with that. If you have any doubts, if you have any questions, if you have any requests, feel free to reach out to me or to our team and we’ll do our best to help you. It is a long process, but one that we all want to see happening so we can proudly say that we do our best in an app that helps us “Become whoever we want”. 

Let’s do our best in 2023 too!
