Transparency Report - March 2023

Our Approach to Safety

At REALITY, you can break free from the constraints of the real world to become “whoever you want” and express yourself in several ways.
We have users who actively pursue their dreams and objectives, users who support those giving their best in their activities, users who just want to enjoy a relaxed REALITY lifestyle, and many other forms of becoming whoever you want.

In order to make REALITY a place where many people can connect and engage in a variety of activities, we believe that it is necessary to make REALITY a safe environment for the community to use. We have been working on various initiatives such as strengthening audits and developing functions to make REALITY safer. On the other hand, we have not disclosed to you our specific efforts and the number of detections to date.

In order to ensure that everyone can enjoy REALITY with peace of mind, we have decided to launch a Transparency Report this month to disclose the number of issues that have been addressed, our efforts to improve safety, problems reported by users, and our policy for resolving these issues.

Number of Cases Handled (March 2023)

  • Reports Made: 21,669

  • Number of Penalties Enforced: 9,790

  • Number of Temporary Restrictions: 3,289

  • Number of Permanent Restrictions: 3,028

  • Restrictions on use by users under 13 years of age: 129

※Multiple cases where the REALITY Team might have detected and handled violations are also included.

Efforts in March 2023

Fraudulent Activities in Events

In March, there were more incidents of event fraud centered on "sending point gifts to the same streamer by using multiple accounts" than in the past, and as a result, the number of accounts subject to "temporary use restriction" and "permanent use restriction" increased significantly.
In many cases, sub-accounts or alternate accounts are used for event fraud, but if it is confirmed that the accounts are owned by the same user, all accounts, including the main account, will be subject to usage restrictions.
A seemingly harmless violation, such as using an alternate account or a sub-account to send points to the same streamer can lead to the loss of a carefully maintained account that has been used for many years, so we strongly recommend that our users do not use sub-accounts to send point gifts.
Please check the Terms of Use and Event Notes, and refrain from any conduct that falls under the prohibited items.

Enhancing measures against users with a history of policy violations

Although REALITY has taken strict measures against violations of the Terms of Service, there have been a number of cases where users who have been restricted have created new accounts and repeated similar violations.
In response to this situation, we have strengthened our measures against "users who have been permanently restricted in the past and repeat the violation with another account" since March.
Repeat violators will be permanently restricted, regardless of the nature of the violation or the number of times the account has violated the Terms of Use.
As a result of this enhancement, 1,856 accounts were subject to permanent usage restrictions in March.
In addition, among users who repeat violations, we will take even stricter measures against users who repeat malicious violations such as "threats to the safety of minors" and "discriminatory behavior," such as imposing usage restrictions not only on the account that violated the Terms of Use but also on all accounts held by the user.

REALITY has established "Terms of Use" and "Community Guidelines" for the safe and secure enjoyment of all users.

We will continue to provide various safety updates, including new moderation tools and revised policies, so that you can enjoy REALITY more safely and securely.
