During April in Japan a lot of people start a new lifestyle and become seniors in school, so I’ve seen some restless people this last month. I hope they’re able to become accustomed to their new life soon! How is it in your country? Do you have any kind of special dates during April?

To make sure everyone can enjoy more and more of REALITY, we will bring you a lot of information this month as well!
With that being said, let’s get to the REALITY Newsletter issue of April 2023!

■REALITY CON World Tour, start!

Last August, REALITY held its first large-scale offline event called "REALITY CON in Tokyo”. The event was a great success with unique REALITY content such as photo spots, game corners, commemorative goods, stage content, and more.

And this year, we have something exciting to announce! We will be holding our first-ever international offline event, titled "REALITY CON 2023 World Tour"! 🎊 The first stop will be in Jakarta, Indonesia! 🥳

The DJ booth and the Avatar Signage corner, which were hugely popular in Tokyo, will also be featured at the event in Jakarta! ✨

■Metaverse EXPO in REALITY submissions, ending soon!

In June this year, we’ll hold a special festival for all the creators in REALITY!✨
Metaverse EXPO in REALITY, or “REALITY MXPO”!

Thank you very much for all the submissions! We are still actively seeking exhibitors for booths at the event venue for the REALITY MXPO, so be sure to send yours too! 👀

Inside the booth, you can display videos and posters, and it's also possible to insert links into your work. ✨

In other words, you can showcase your own work posters and at the same time, direct visitors to your own website or portfolio page! Don't miss this opportunity, everyone!

Virtual Osaka Umekita Station Collab, thank you!

On March 18th of this year, a new platform was created underground at Osaka Station (Umekita area). To commemorate this, a limited-time Virtual Osaka Umekita World collaboration was held on REALITY from March 8th to April 23rd!

Inside Umekita World, there were lots of fun things to do, such as riding the Kansai Airport Express "Haruka," taking photos at the facial recognition gate, and playing on the live stage! There was a lot to enjoy 🎶.


■ 5 Million visitor celebration event!

Since its pre-opening, many people have experienced the Umekita World, and as of March 27, less than three weeks after its official opening, the number of visitors has surpassed 5 million! 😳✨

On April 8th and 9th, about a month after its opening and in celebration of reaching 5 million visitors, a real-life event was held at the Time-Space Plaza on the 5th floor of Osaka Station. ✨

The event featured a talk and live performance by popular VTubers "Kouga Ninja Ponpoko" and "Peanuts-kun," who were also featured as main characters in the virtual world. In addition, real-life artists such as "Yoyoyochan," a singer who does impressions of popular songs, and "asmi," a singer-songwriter from Osaka, also participated in the event. 🎤

The event on the day was projected on a special stage in the Umekita Station World, and it was content that you could enjoy the event in both the real Osaka Station and the virtual Osaka Station!

To commemorate the opening, the avatar shop also sells railway-themed items ✨

Update implementation

■NHK WORLD JAPAN × REALITY Collab

NHK WORLD JAPAN's popular videos are being screened at the Sakura World Cinema! The featured films change every week, so please check them out 👀🎥

And..! Starting April 26th, the cinema inside Sakura World will undergo a major renovation every two weeks! ✨ You can enjoy fun experiences that match the videos!

A relaxing space where you can watch travel videos while lounging on hammocks. ☺

■ Moderator Feature released!

We have added an update that includes a "Moderator function" to ensure that REALITY users can broadcast and view content safely and securely.

Until now, only the streamer could delete or ban comments, but during singing or gaming streams, it might not be possible to respond to deletions immediately.

In cases where there are too many comments to handle, this can become a problem. However, by adding trusted users as "Moderators", they can assist with deleting or banning comments during a stream.

We will continue to improve and add more features to ensure that everyone can enjoy REALITY comfortably. Please stay tuned!

■ REALITY’s Transparency Report started!

We have started publishing a "Transparency Report" this month to show our users with more clarity what kind of measures we have been taking to enhance safety and ensure that our users can enjoy REALITY with peace of mind.

Specifically, the "Transparency Report" that we started this month provides information on the actual measures we take, including the number of reports received and accounts suspended. It also includes information on issues reported by our users and our plan for addressing them.

■ Record videos in the Worlds! And 3 new emotes were released!

A feature has been added to REALITY that allows you to shoot a 15-second short video within the Worlds!

With this feature, you can shoot a 15-second short video of just your avatar and the background without the control icon for moving the avatar that appears when recording the screen in the world.✨

And what's more, it is said that in the future, you will also be able to add music and post the videos in REALITY using the upcoming "Short Video Feature (temp)"!👀

Also, three new emotes were added too!

You can try various dances, so please give them a try!

Campaigns

■#REALITYWorldChallenge

Along with the release of the in-world video recording feature and three new dance emotes, a limited-time campaign #REALITYWorldChallenge was also held!

This campaign is focused on posting videos using the new emotes available in the Worlds, but videos that were recorded in the Worlds and having edits are welcome too!

①Every user who records a video using the in-world recording function will receive a participation prize of 100C!
②Additionally, 10 winners selected from among the participants who used the hashtag will receive 10 gacha tickets each as an award from the management team!

The winners of the event will be announced in May, so stay tuned for the results! ✨

■May Festival 2023

May 1st is “May Day”, also known as the May Festival, and celebrated in various parts of Europe to celebrate the arrival of spring.

This year, we also held a May Festival in REALITY!

Metaverse! I’m REALITY’s CEO, DJ RIO!🤘

Recently, there have been many developments in REALITY, ranging from small improvements to large new features!
I’m personally looking forward to the 𒒯𒒏𒒬 that I heard about 2-3 days earlier, I’m sure that everyone will 𒒯𒒏𒒬 and enjoy 𒒯𒒏𒒬 a lot! 

Also, just a small spoiler that I’ll give you guys, but actually 𒒯𒒏𒒬 is scheduled to be released in 𒒯𒒏𒒬, so it will probably turn into something amazing…!

I was in charge of some of REALITY’s recent updates, for example, the April Fool’s Hand Tracking and the Moderator Feature. 
Today, I would like to talk a little bit about the Moderator Feature.

The moderator feature allows streamers to add trusted users as their "moderators", who can then help manage the comments during a live stream by deleting or blocking inappropriate comments. This function is commonly found in live streaming services.

REALITY is committed to ensuring that users can use the app with peace of mind, and as such, monitors the service, responds to reports, and deals with malicious users. However, unfortunately, some users still engage in inappropriate behavior, and "trolls" who post unpleasant comments during live streams are prime example of this.

Comment removal and blocking features have existed before, but they were only available for the broadcaster to use. Depending on the content of the broadcast, the broadcaster may not always be able to respond to comments, as they may be playing games or singing, for example. When a moderator can help with comment moderation in such situations, the broadcaster can concentrate on the content of the broadcast and maintain a good atmosphere for the viewers!

It has been about two weeks since the release of the feature, and we can confirm that many people are using it appropriately. The moderator function was particularly requested by overseas users, and as someone in charge, it is very gratifying to hear the voices of users who are happy with it.

While the "hand tracking feature" was a fun and interesting addition, REALITY is also focusing on developing features that create a safe and secure environment, such as the "moderator feature." We will continue to evolve REALITY, so please look forward to it!

...I feel like I just had a serious talk. I would like to write a more humorous and witty column next time.

Hello! I’m Thomas, REALITY’s International Community Manager!

April was really stacked with the April Fool’s Hand Tracking, New Moderator Feature, Transparency Report, and finally the REALITY World Tour announcement. Since Nakatas talked about the Hand Tracking and Moderator Feature, I’ll talk a little bit about the Transparency Report and REALITY World Tour today.

Sometimes we (the Community Team) see a lot of users in REALITY’s Discord asking questions about the app moderation, how it works, and what is being done about the users’ safety, and based on that we decided to start our Transparency Report so that users can check out some data and measures related to Safety. I hope you guys check it out, and we’ll keep trying to improve it and release new reports to improve our communication with our users.

Last year, REALITY’s first-ever offline event, the REALITY Con in Tokyo was held in Japan. However, since we have an incredible amount of international users in REALITY too, we’ve always been wanting to share this experience with our overseas users too, and finally, we officially announced our first REALITY CON 2023 World Tour, which will happen in Jakarta, Indonesia!

I hope that our users from Indonesia are looking forward to it, and if you’re from another country, please look forward to the next ones too!
