【マンガ千夜一夜】風の谷のナウシカ（宮崎駿） One Thousand and One Nights about Manga：Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind [Hayao Miyazaki]

アニメーション映画のほうが有名だが、本来は漫画が原作である。宮崎駿は映画版「ナウシカ」の出来に満足できなかったようであるが、映画の商業的成功はスタジオジブリの設立につながった。アニメ情報誌『アニメージュ』に1982年から1994年まで連載された。映画版から「ナウシカ」を知った人は、漫画版「ナウシカ」には違和感をおぼえるかもしれない。映画版「ナウシカ」が宗教的・救世主的エンディングを迎えるのに対して、漫画版「ナウシカ」では、ナウシカがむしろ人類の未来の希望を詰んでしまうエンディングとも取れる。しかし、ストーリーの厚み、人物描写、エンディングの余韻において、映画版「ナウシカ」は漫画版「ナウシカ」には、遠く及ばない。映画版「ナウシカ」がディズニー的エンターテイメント作品であるのに対して、漫画版「ナウシカ」は「指輪物語」や「ゲド戦記」的ファンタジーとなっている。

While the movie version of "Nausicaä" is a Disney-style entertainment, the manga version of "Nausicaä" is a fantasy like "The Lord of the Rings" or "Earthsea".
