梨木香歩の小説『西の魔女が死んだ』をお読みになったことはあるだろうか。

中学生になったばかりで、どうしても学校に足が向かなくなった少女まいが、ママのママ、つまりおばあちゃんのもとでひと月あまりを過ごす。まいは、そこで大好きなおばあちゃんから、「魔女」のてほどきを受ける…という話である。

1994年の発行以来、読み継がれてきたこの作品は、教科書に掲載されたこともあるベストセラーとなっている。

この『西の魔女が死んだ』がリーディングドラマとして生まれ変わることが決まった。
