Tokyo Fish Market Finally Opens Restaurant Area
（東京魚市場がついにレストラン街をオープン）
Tokyo's fish market has opened a long-awaited outer section with Japanese-style seafood restaurants and a spa for relaxation.
（東京の魚市場が、日本式の海鮮料理店やリラクゼーションのためのスパを備えた待望の外場をオープンした。）
The venue has struggled since relocating from the popular Tsukiji market and is seeking to attract more visitors.
（人気の築地市場から移転して以来、苦戦を強いられてきた同市場は、さらなる集客を目指している。）
Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai includes a food court resembling an Edo samurai-era street, lined with about 65 restaurants serving mostly fresh catch from the market next door. Together with visitors at the spa and hotel in another area, the Tokyo metropolitan government that operates the market hopes to attract more than 2.5 million visitors annually.

"I'm confident that Tokyo residents and visitors from in and outside Japan will enjoy our diverse food culture as they savor fresh and high-quality food that only the fish market next door can serve," Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike said in a speech at an opening ceremony held before the official launch for visitors.
（小池百合子東京都知事は「都民や国内外からの来訪者が、隣の魚市場ならではの新鮮で質の高い食材を味わうことで、多様な食文化を楽しんでいただけると確信している」と、来場者向けの正式スタートに先立って行われたオープニングセレモニーのスピーチで述べた。）
Visitors flooded in as soon as the doors opened on February 1, many of them taking photos, while others lined up outside stalls selling tuna sashimi on sticks and other seafood, or had early lunch at an eel restaurant.
（2月1日の開場と同時に来場者が殺到し、多くの人が写真を撮り、マグロの刺身やその他の魚介類を売る屋台の外に並んだり、うなぎ屋で早めの昼食をとる人もいた。）
Originally planned to open in 2019 before the Tokyo Olympics and along with the fish market's relocation from Tsukiji, Toyosu's outer section is about four years behind schedule due to planning delays and the coronavirus pandemic, officials said.
（元々、東京オリンピック前の2019年にオープンする予定であり、築地からの魚市場の移転とともに、豊洲の外場は計画の遅れとコロナウィルスの流行により、予定より約4年遅れていると関係者は述べた。）
The new Toyosu market offers modern technology and an improved environment for workers, and performs careful safety checks on fish, including those from Fukushima, but it lacks the open-air, bustling atmosphere that Tsukiji used to have.
（豊洲新市場は、近代的な技術と労働者のための改善された環境を提供し、福島産を含む魚の入念な安全チェックを行うが、築地がかつて持っていたオープンエアの賑やかな雰囲気はない。）
Toyosu saw the amount of seafood it handled drop in 2023 before the relocation, in part because of smaller catches and a growing move by restaurants to buy directly from suppliers.
（豊洲では移転前の2023年、漁獲量の減少や飲食店が業者から直接仕入れる動きが強まったこともあり、魚介類の取扱量が減少した。）
Market officials and experts expect Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai, which means "thousands of customers, bustling business," to continue to attract more visitors, especially from abroad.
