2. The issue
Expanding the possibilities of developing countries. It is also about creating a global brand from a developing country. Eriko Yamaguchi, president of Motherhouse, has been in Bangladesh for two years. Based on my experience there, I believe in the potential of developing countries, which often lack money, and give them opportunities to take on challenges.
3. Motivation
The speaker's motivation is to create a better society. There are three main reasons why she joined Motherhouse. The first is Nepal, which I visited when I was five years old. There, she was influenced by people's lives that were the exact opposite of her life in Japan. Second, I studied International Relations at Tsuda College and went to Nepal for fieldwork. Third, I studied international development studies at SOAS University in London. Her motivation is her desire to improve society through her many experiences.
4. Community
A Community of similar interest. I think that people who share the same desire and interests to help developing countries and to improve society are gathering.
5. Engage with the community
She is involved in the community with a strong desire to act toward a future that she believes is good. I think it's amazing that she keeps going without hesitation.
6. Skills
I think the skill of acting with strong feelings. There are many times in our lives when we lose sight of our goals and who we want to be because of our busyness. At times like that, I needed the skill to look back on myself, remember what I was thinking at first, and correct my actions with a strong will.
7. My Discoveries
Listening to the lecture this time, I thought it was amazing that you were able to cherish the experiences you had when you were 5 years old and continue to do your current work. No matter what happens, living without losing sight of your core
is difficult. In today's social media world, there are people with different values and opinions, and it is easy to interact with them. When I am in it, I often lose sight of my values and what I want to cherish. At that time, I thought that the ability to reflect on the things I valued and the ability to modify my actions were necessary to live a meaningful life.
