恋のゴールドメダル　僕が恋したキム・ボクジュ

体育大学の重量挙げ部のエースの女の子の話。

A story about a young female athlete, who is a rising star in the weightlifting world. When she falls in love with a doctor at a weight control clinic, she starts to question her dedication and passion for the sport as she struggles to balance out her life as an athlete and an ordinary young girl.

I thought it was a fun drama, though there was a lot of shouting and arguing and crying so it was a little tiring to watch sometimes.

It was interesting to get a glimpse of what life must be like for students majoring in sports at school. The conflict the characters had in balancing out their lives as athletes and as ordinary students was fascinating but sometimes hard to watch... traumas at competitions, stress, sleeping/eating disorders...

Apparently the series is categorised as a “coming of age” story, and I kinda get where that’s coming from, since we see how the characters mature as they overcome hardships in their sport and their social lives. But then I also feel they’re a little bit too old as characters for coming of age stories. If you’re 21, you’re already of age, aren’t you?Maybe that’s why I felt there was a little too much shouting and arguing and crying coming from Kim Bok Joo.

But overall, I thought it was a fun series to watch (although Si Ho was a little scary) and I liked how the lead male role was a competitive swimmer. I just personally like competitive swimming, and I also happen to like Nam Joo Hyuk, so that was all the more better.

タイトルの日本語訳が秀逸だと思った。
ジュニョン目線に持ってくるのか！って。
