It is now one week since the Taliban captured Kabul, basically without a fight. It is an unmitigated disaster for America, the NATO Alliance, and other countries associated with America.
タリバンがカブールを抵抗なしで占領して、一週間が経っています。完璧に、アメリカ、NATO軍、他のアメリカと縁が有る国の紛れもない大惨事です。
President Biden and his administration had made no plans for evacuating people. Several intelligence agencies have said that they did inform the President that the situation was serious, and Afghanistan could fall quickly. That the Army would not fight the Taliban.

President Biden did not know, or ignored this. The US has sent troops to secure the international airport, and are now evacuating people from there. American citizens, and Afghans who helped the US military, are eligible for evacuation. Sources say that 7,500 to 40,000 people are at the airport, awaiting evacuation.

The American position is that American citizens should come to the airport to be evacuated. However, the day after their conquest of Kabul, the Taliban set up checkpoints around the city, and outside the airport. Their position is that no one may pass. They are confiscating the passports of US citizens.

The scenes outside the airport are chaotic. There is gunfire. Families with women and children are trying to get through. Many cannot.

A woman was set on fire by the Taliban. They had forced her to cook for their fighters, and did not like the food. It does not seem that they have reformed their reputation for brutality.

The American troops will not leave the airport to help American citizens in the city. The British, and French however, have mounted rescue missions into the city.

They cannot. Many will simply be left behind. The British forces fear this, they already have officers watching the Americans. They fear the American forces will leave in the night, and abandon people, and the British Army.

If the Americans try to run away in the night, it is likely that the people inside the airport will panic, and try to board the last aircraft. They will not be able to take off, many will be killed.

The Taliban are killing people who worked for the previous government, America, Great Britain, and other foreign countries. It is very likely that most of the people left behind, abandoned at the airport will be killed.

President Biden will ignore this, and make a speech about Corona, or American Right wing Trump supporters are Terrorists. He will not mention the Afghan disaster.

Americans will become extremely angry, we will have bloodshed in America, and America will disintegrate as a unified nation.

One more thought. We have seen mobs on the runway of Kabul international airport. How will the last American troops evacuate without mobs attacking their aircraft?
