In the first part, we asked the development team about their thoughts behind creating Vket Cloud and My Vket, and the details of their future roadmap.

🔶Special edition of roadmap announcement
"My Vket Development Conference" is broadcast regularly from 21:00 JST on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, and there are many
user comments such as "We want to know the future roadmap!" and
many major updates, and we will tell you about them in detail. This is why it has become a special edition.
The distribution members are also a little different from usual, with core development members appearing.
We once again asked him about his motivations and thoughts for creating "Vket Cloud" and "My Vket."
🔹We want to create a world like this with Vket Cloud and My Vket! !
We asked Vket Cloud developer Ryuichi Kida and COO/CQO Mika Sawae to talk about why they created Vket Cloud and My Vket, what they are aiming for, and where they are headed .
🔹Vket Cloud
"aims to create a metaverse that even grandmas can easily access!"
●Please tell us what made you decide to create Vket Cloud again.
Kida: I feel that the hurdles to enter
a world created virtually are extremely high. I created Vket Cloud because I wanted to make it easy for anyone to use .
●In addition to equipment, you also need a dedicated application.
Kida:
That's right. For example, if a creator creates a world in VRChat,
VRChat users can immediately enter it. On the other hand, it would be difficult to say
to your grandmother, "I created something like this, so give VRChat a try!" But if you give them a web link and ask them to click, you can do it on a smartphone or tablet. My motivation was to create such a service.
●If it's that easy, you can definitely get started.
Kida:
That's why we made it available in a web browser, and
we also made it work on smartphones and tablets. I would also like to expand this world even further
by adding features that allow you to easily create things, such as the scene builder that I will explain later !
🔹My Vket: “We want to expand the world where we can live the way we want”
●Please tell us what made you decide to create My Vket again.
Mika Sawa: I started it because I wanted to make it commonplace
for everyone to have an avatar and
the ability to go out into the virtual world! I want to make it normal to have an avatar, just like Vtubers have become commonplace. And I want to expand the world where I can be active with that figure!
●What does it mean to expand the world in which avatars can play an active role?
Mika Sawa: For example , I want to make it easier for people to be able to live their lives as they like,
such as working as an avatar . Not only is it easy to use, but you can also download avatars and take out the things you create on My Vket.
●It means that you are not bound by the platform.
Mika Sawa:
Yes. Even after 10 or 20 years from now, you'll be able to enjoy your avatar
and say, "You'll never be so cute!" We will create a world where everyone can laugh together! We are also developing the room system so that it has more flexibility and can do a variety of things, so please look forward to it!
🔶Vket Cloud update information summary
Before the announcement, Kida will review the functions of Vket Cloud.
Kida:
Vket Cloud is a Metaverse development engine that runs on a web browser, but it actually uses its own game engine.
Unity is only used as an editor. Above all, the drawing performance is high
given the limitations of running it in a web browser . This is because the unique engine allows for peak adjustments.
In addition to being multiplayer-enabled by default and easy to access, it also
follows the structure of the website, allowing
for a wide range of customization.
However, it is also true that there are still many areas where the engine is not fully developed.
We will update it from time to time with bug fixes, etc.
🔹Roadmap announced!
Kida:
There will be a lot of updates for Vket Cloud next time.
The SDK has been improved, the UI has become much lighter,
assets can be distributed on the Vket Cloud site,
and features of the paid version have been introduced,
among other things.
It was originally scheduled for October 25th, but
due to various circumstances, it will now be from late October to early November.
The development is going on in a hurry (lol)
Mika Sawa:
The pink text is the paid version such as the basic plan or business plan, right?
Kida:
Yes!
Currently, the SDK can basically only be used by individuals, but
the paid version will allow team development. Various functions will be added
, such as allowing multiple people to edit one world,
linking with e-commerce sites, and the ability to make reservations .
Ikura:
It says that world templates will also be available.
Kida:
When it comes to business use,
it can be difficult to prepare a world on your own, so
we distribute templates that include gimmicks.
In fact, the most notable feature of the recent update is the ability to use a feature called "Activity Classes."
Mika Sawa:
It’s not written down, right?
Kida:
No (lol).
It is equivalent to Unity's prefab, but it allows you to install and load
scripts and 3D models as a set .
Ikura:
Is it something that has some sort of functionality bundled into one, and then you just need to put it in and you can use it right away?
Kida:
That's right.
At first, I'm thinking of handing out simple gimmicks like watches.
World templates are a combination of these and
can be downloaded and installed.
Also, in 2024, we plan to implement an editor called "Scene Builder" that runs on a web browser other than Unity. The alpha version is already running internally, but Mr. Iwahana is making rapid adjustments to the UI/UX, so please wait a little longer for release.
Ikura:
You just said something amazing again, didn't you?
A tool that can create worlds that runs on a web browser? ?
Kida:
Yes (lol). It may be more than the basic plan by
adding other emotes , but it will likely increase the number of simultaneous users to around 50 to 100 .
Mika Sawa:
I'm curious about the coin tipping function.
Kida:
The coin tipping function is so incredibly
difficult that it almost makes me depressed when I think about it, so I'll do my best.
Anyway, there are a lot of additional features, so please look forward to it!
🔶My Vket update information summary
Before the announcement,
My Vket product manager Raf will review My Vket's functions.
Raf:
Hikky's original service based on Vket Cloud, which
was released in beta last December.
As for the concept, as Mika-san said, it is a service
that allows even people who have never experienced the Metaverse or those with little experience
to enjoy the Metaverse in an easy-to-understand and easy-to-understand browser . In fact, we renewed the design in August of this year as part of our aim to make the service more user-friendly . The design has become brighter and more pop-like, and I think those who have been watching it since the beta era have felt that the atmosphere has changed.
Raf:
Specifically, what you can do is
expand the expression of your real self,
become a different version of yourself and live a new life,
easily create a room, and hold events.
I'm making more and more.
Raf:
To introduce two examples of its use,
first, we held an online autograph session for a manga artist named Narita Imomushi.
This is an event where you can use My Vket's screen sharing function
to draw your autograph or your favorite character on the spot. I think it was a priceless experience that was different from anything I've ever had before, with people coming from local areas and overseas,
and people who would be embarrassed to meet in real life .
Mika Sawa:
I saw someone on X (twitter) who was a total otaku (lol)
Raph:
Ms. Narita was also very happy.
I would like it to be used as one of the methods for fan meetings.
Raf:
The other thing is for legendary voice actor Toru Furuya's birthday, we
decorated his room with birthday messages collected from fans.
We introduced it as a surprise during the broadcast of the program and
celebrated Mr. Furuya's birthday party.
Not only was Mr. Furuya happy, but
the fans seemed to enjoy it as well, feeling like their comments were displayed on display.
Mika Sawa:
Actually, the yellow decoration on the back
is a gimmick that allows you to hear the voices of famous voice actors Hikaru Midorikawa and Kenji Nojima.
You can easily create something like that, and you can easily join from X (Twitter) and hear your voice! There was also a post.
Ikura:
It's a good thing that people who normally wouldn't be able to connect can connect with each other.
Raph:
It's great that it has a great live feel, which is completely different from watching it live.
🔹Roadmap announced!
Raf:
There's a lot of information, so it's spread over two pages, but let's start with this year's one.
Avatar Maker will be renewed in October to make it easier to use.
We will finally open up the event registration function in November. In conjunction with this , we will begin selling event tickets and items,
although only from the official site . We will also improve the operability of the room, so please look forward to it.
Mika Sawa:
I'm interested in being able to have NPCs live there!
Raf:
I will explain in detail later.
In 2024, we will start buying and selling items between users.
Next, add the avatar's facial expressions in the room.
I think it was expressionless and lonely, but I
will evolve it so that it can be more expressive.
In addition, as part of our efforts to improve the event experience, we will also incorporate features such as the ability to
convey your feelings to the performers using paid emotes . We will be working on various projects including these, so please look forward to it.
Ikura:
There's a huge amount of information here as well.
Mika Sawa:
Eh, wait a minute. Under "Improve your room experience" it says
"You can easily create furniture with AI", isn't this amazing? Are you trying to get away with it?
Kida:
I think this will not be implemented until after the new year, but
it is a function that uses so-called generative AI to create furniture.
For example, if you type "huge elephant",
a big elephant will be generated on the spot.
Raf:
No modeling required, and the language is Japanese.
If you enter "green sofa", you will get a green sofa.
Ikura:
This is not the kind of content that can be announced in one sentence (lol).
Mika Sawae:
Is “allowing conversations with NPCs” also an AI?
Kida: As a premise , a feature will be added
in November that will allow you to have your avatar live in a room as an NPC. In a later update, you will be able to have conversations using ChatGPT. Please wait for a while as the update time is still a long way off.
Ikura:
