About Japan|Isogaba maware

Although many Japanese-English dictionaries says “Haste makes waste“,
this Japanese proverb is “Seite wa koto wo shisonjiru”, I think.

“Isogaba maware” is a part of this tanka.

Getting there by using Yabase boat is fast but dangerous.
So it is safer to walking the Nagahashi bridge.

This was the saying when old Japanese people crossed Lake Biwa.
(Biwa lake at Shiga city is the biggest lake in Japan.)

The importance of choosing safety over speed.

I don't think it's a waste of time to be safe.
Because it prevents the waste of life.

COVID-19 pandemic in Japan,
many Japanese people seemed to go to Yabase boat but turned back.

From the beginning we were heading to the Nagahashi bridge.
So I can use the waiting time effectively.

Although I wrote these, I don’t want to say that I’m proud of my choice.

I want to say:
if you predict the future, there is no need to hurry.
