我々が最も恐れているもの

本郷綜海さんのLife Art School（LAS）に通っていたときに教えてもらったアメリカの作家、マリアン・ウィリアムソンの言葉。

我々が最も恐れているもの、
それは自分が無力だということではない。
我々が最も恐れているもの、
それは、自分には計り知れない力がある、ということだ。

我々が最も恐れるもの、
それは我々の光であって、闇ではない。

我々は自分に問いかける。
自分ごときが賢く、美しく、才能にあふれた
素晴らしい人物であろうはずがないではないか？
だが、そうあってはなぜいけない？
あなたは神の子である。

あなたが遠慮をしても世界の役には立たない。
周りの人が気後れしないようにと
あなたが身を縮めることは何の美徳でもない。

我々は、自らの内にある神の栄光を現すために生まれてきたのだ。
そしてそれは限られた人々のものではなく、 すべての人の内にある！

我々が自らの内にある光を輝かせるとき、
無意識のうちに他者に対しても同様のことを許している。
我々が自分の持つ恐れから自らを解放するとき、
我々の存在は同時に他者も解放する。

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.
