"Homelessness and sex work are our ongoing struggles”

I'm very impressed with the many support systems for us,
trans or queer people in Vancouver.

For us, homelessness is a common issue,
but outside our community,
everyone just expresses hate.

It’s the same for sex work.
Sometimes it’s a necessity,
And it's a right to work.

But even in our own spaces,
In our communities,
I hear the same hate,
Directed at both.

It’s dangerous for me.
It’s harmful and it sucks.
It’s almost the same in Japan
and around the world.

Even when I have a place,
I live with the constant fear
of becoming homeless tomorrow,
And live with the possibility or needs for doing sex work tomorrow,
all my life.

We need to confront these issues,
For what they are.
Don’t be blind because of privilege,
due to happenstance.

Politics always change,
And with them,
your privileges could vanish tomorrow.
As a trans or queer person.

Support us all.
Support homeless people,
And sex workers.

In doing so,
You support yourself.
In the past,
Or present,
And in the future.

Stand with us,
And for our next generations.
