緊急警報システム (EAS) は、1997年1月1日にEBS (Emergency Broadcast System) と CONELRADシステムに代わって導入された米国の国家警報システムである。EASは、米連邦緊急事態管理庁 (FEMA) のプログラムである IPAWS（公共警告･警報統合システム：Integrated Public Alert and Warning System）の一部となっている。EASは、FEMA、連邦通信委員会 (FCC)、米国気象局 (NWS) が共同で調整している。公式のEASは、米国大統領が10分以内に米国内に向けて発言できるように設計されている（この公式の連邦EASは一度も作動していない）。EASの規制と基準は、FCCの公共安全･国土安全保障局が管轄している。各州といくつかの準州は、それぞれ独自のEAS計画を持っている。

EASの対象となるのは、AM放送、FM放送、陸上移動無線サービスに加え、VHF、UHF、ケーブルテレビ（低出力局を含む）である。2006年12月31日からは、デジタル･テレビ、ケーブル･テレビ、シリウスXM衛星ラジオ、IBOC、DAB、デジタル･ラジオの各放送事業者がEASに参加することになっている。DirecTV、Dish Network、Cox Communication などのDBS事業者は、2007年5月31日からEASへの参加が義務付けられている。

The Emergency Alert System (EAS) is a national warning system in the United States put into place in January 1, 1997, superseding the Emergency Broadcast System (EBS) and the CONELRAD System. EAS has become part of IPAWS - the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System, a program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). EAS is jointly coordinated by FEMA, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the National Weather Service (NWS). The official EAS is designed to enable the President of the United States to speak to the United States within 10 minutes (This official federal EAS has never been activated). The EAS regulations and standards are governed by the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau of the FCC. Each state and several territories have their own EAS plan.

The EAS covers AM broadcasting, FM broadcasting and Land Mobile Radio Service, as well as VHF, Ultra High Frequency and cable television including low-power stations. Digital television and cable providers, along with Sirius XM satellite radio, IBOC, DAB and digital radio broadcasters have been required to participate in the EAS since December 31, 2006. DirecTV, Dish Network Cox Communication's and all other DBS providers have been required to participate since May 31, 2007.
