滞在期間中、資料のリサーチと並行して、村内を歩き回って写真を撮影していった。
歩くという行為は、遠い過去から現在まで、この土地で生きてきた人々が歩んだ道や地形から、彼らの生を把握していくフィールドワークでもある。実際に土地を歩き、観察することで普段見落としてしまう物事や、生活を取り巻く風景から読み取ることのできる人の営みや風土を知覚していく。かつては皆徒歩で移動しており、小学校へ通うのにも数キロの道を行くということが当たり前であった。そういう生活の中で、何を感じ、記憶し、この村のアイデンティティとして何を形成していくのかということを実体験として向き合い、「葛尾村」という場所を可視化させていく試みでもあった。

While researching sources during my residency, I also walked around the village and took photos. The act of walking is a kind of fieldwork through which one builds a picture of the lives of people who, from the distant past up until the present day, spent their lives in this land from the paths and geographies they travelled. By actually walking in and observing those lands, one comes to perceive things that are usually overlooked, as well as the human activities and climate of the landscape that encompasses their lives, in the past, everyone walked to get around. Walking several kilometres to get to elementary school was normal. My walks were also an attempt to form a clear picture of this place called Katsurao by engaging with, through real experience, what people living such a life would feel, remember, and shape into the village's identity.

1990年兵庫県生まれ。東京を拠点に制作活動を行う。被写体となる土地の詳細なリサーチに基づき、死と生、人の営み、風土、場所をテーマとする写真作品の制作を行う。第13回写真「1_WALL」奨励賞受賞（2015）。主な展覧会に、「傾がずの原」（個展、ニコンサロン新宿／大阪、2015）、「『風景』のつくりかた」（目黒区美術館区民ギャラリー、2021）など。

Born in Hyogo, Japan in 1990. Currently lives and works in Tokyo. In Ohtsuki’s process of creating artworks, she incorporates her thorough research in order to deal with Death and Life, Human Activity and Climate, Place. She received the encouragement award at 13th “1_WALL Photography” (2015). Her major exhibitions include “Barrow of Equilibrium” (Nikon Salon Shinjuku/ Osaka, 2015), “How we create a ‘Landscape’” (Citizens Gallery, Meguro Museum of Art, 2021).
