[Folklore]Embracing (the Past for) the Future (introduction of project research)

I'm a student of Fukushima Prefectural Futaba Future High School.
My project title is Embracing (the Past for) the Future. This research aims to “prevent the Great East Japan earthquake's memory from being lost.”

More than ten years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake. Observing the local circumstances, I discovered regional issues in Futaba District, Fukushima. According to one street survey, 63% of people said that the disaster had been lost in their memories from people's minds. It is crucial that the memories of the people who experienced this Earthquake should not be forgotten but even passed on to the next generation. As an action to solve this problem, I decided to interview people who experienced the disaster and write down their 'feelings' based on their experiences. Through these interviews, I would like to raise awareness of disaster prevention among readers, convey this to future generations, and make the world aware that nobody's lives will be lost due to disasters 20 to 30 years from now. I would also like to translate some of the documents into English so that many people in Japan and worldwide can learn about the great earthquake marked in Japan's earthquake history.
