年男

3/15で36歳になりました。大阪の公立高校ではこの日は毎年高校入試の採点の時期で皆さんお忙しい中、たくさんのプレゼントやお手紙をいただきました。本当にありがとうございます。
今年は４月から休職しJICAの活動に参加するため激動の一年になると思います。36歳というキリの良いタイミングで新しいことに挑戦できることに感謝してたくさん成長したいと思います。

ちなみに英語で年男って何て言うんかな？って思って調べてみましたが、そもそも干支のことも西洋ではよく知られていなかったりするので、まずその説明からしないと伝わらないようです。文字通りに訳すと、"a man of the year" らしいです。なんかカッコよくないですか。

干支と名前の竜に恥じないように、飛躍の年になりますように。

I finally became 36 years old on March 15th. At a public high school in Osaka, everyone was busy on this day because it was the time of grading for high school entrance exams every year, but I received so many gifts and letters from my co-workers.  Thank you very much. I think this year I will experience so many special things because I will be taking a leave of absence from April to participate in JICA activities. I'm grateful to be able to take on new challenges when I become 36, and I want to enjoy a lot.

By the way, how do you say "Toshi Otoko" in English? That's what I thought, so I looked it up, but the zodiac signs aren't really well known in westerners, so it seems like it is difficult to explain about it for westerners. The literal translation is "a man of the year." Isn't it kind of cool?
