Activities Report for July and August 2023

Here is a summary of activities in July and August.

■July 1: Hands-on event to experience Japanese food culture at an important cultural heritage, Arai Residence @ Izumisano-city

We held an event to learn about Japanese food culture in cooperation with "Japan Food Studies College," an educational institution for food studies, and "Crcc-Asia," which provides internships in Asia for international university students.

After a lecture on Japanese food culture, students enjoyed a meal supervised by Aiko-sensei from JFSC.

The Izumisano Tourism Association staff also came to see the event, and we discussed future collaboration.

■July 13: Visit to Kamiyama-cho, discuss about the unique sustainability eco-system

At the invitation of Aiko-sensei, Director of Japan Food Studies College, we visited Kamiyama-cho, Tokushima Prefecture, Japan. In Kamiyama-cho, we heard about new educational practices and a unique food hub project from the owner of "Kamaya", a restaurant. It was truly an initiative that could be described as cutting-edge in the world.

■July 15: Exchange Event between Crcc-Asia students and Elementary School Students

We held an event to show Japanese elementary schools to Crcc-Asia international students who came to Japan in July. Seeing a Japanese elementary school for the first time, the international students asked the children various questions. On the other hand, the children were very interested in the introduction of elementary schools in other countries by international students.

■July 18: Visiting Nyora-Temple, Furueru Library, Lecture by Mr. Tetsuzo Shaku

We visited Nyorai-Temple in Ikeda City and had a discussion with Shaku-sensei, abbot and president of Souai University, about temple-led community activities, new welfare activities in the city area, and the situation regarding religions in Japan.

We also visited the private library "Furueru Shoko," which is attached to the temple, and heard about its unique activities.

■July 25: Final Internship Presentation by exchange Students @ Ishibashi Shopping Street

Students from Osaka University, whom we have been accepting since April, gave their final presentations in the shopping street. People who have been involved in the internship program as well as passersby stopped by, and it became a very lively event.

Thank you to all the international students for your hard work over the past few months!

■July 28: Reflection Dialogue Workshop for students at Osaka University

We were invited as guest lecturers to the "Introduction to Peer Support," a class for new students at Osaka University, and conducted a dialogue workshop on reflection.

Although some students were a bit confused by their first experience in a dialogue workshop, we are glad that they became interested in "dialogue" activities through this opportunity.

■August 21, 28: Online Exchange Event With the University of Melbourne

We held an exchange event between university students studying Japanese at the University of Melbourne and Japanese elementary school students.

On the day of the event, not only the children but also their principal and school board members participated, confirming the importance of the online exchange.
