北インド発祥の古典声楽 ドゥルパド(Dhrupad)

通常、音楽というと観客のいる外側に向けて表現されるものだが、インド音楽は自分の内面にベクトルが向いていて、内側にあるものを深く探っていきながら、それを最終的に外側のどこか高い所に運ぶ感じ。

なので、自分の在り方や状態がそのまま声にダイレクトに現れるような感覚がある。

ドゥルパドを学ぶのは本来個人レッスンの形で、口伝で師から弟子へと受け継がれる。
基本、録音も禁止なので、大事な教えを取りこぼさないように、良い緊張感と共にレッスンに完全に集中する。

ドゥルパドは、音と音の間に現れる、無音の間をとても大切にする。
即興の後に上手く間を残し、聴衆にその先をイメージさせるように歌えるのかどうかも、演者の腕の見せ所らしい。

自分の状態をピュアで真っ白なキャンバスのように保つことで、そこに載せる色（音）が更に美しく現れると、グルジ（師）が言っていたことを思い出す。

ひとつひとつの音を、身体中を流れる気に丁寧に乗せていきながら発声していく。

もう、それだけで、たまらなく満たされる。

あぁ。こんなに素晴らしい芸術に出会えたことは奇跡なのかもしれないなぁ！

Usually, music is directed outward to the audience, but in Indian music, the vector is directed inward, and it is as if you are deeply exploring what is inside, and finally carrying it to some higher place outside.

Therefore, I feel that my way of being and my state of being appear directly in my voice.

Learning Dhrupad is basically in the form of private lessons, passed on orally from master to student.
Since recording is basically prohibited, the student must concentrate completely on the lesson with a good degree of concentration so as not to miss out on any important lessons.

Dhrupad places great importance on the soundless pauses that appear between notes.
It seems that the performer's ability to leave a good pause after an improvisation and sing in such a way that the audience can imagine what is to come next is also a matter of skill.

I remember Guruji (my teacher) telling me that if you keep your state of mind like a pure, blank canvas, the colors (sounds) you put on it will appear even more beautiful.

I carefully let each sound flow through my body as I vocalize and that alone is enough to make me feel very fulfilled.

It's probably a miracle that I was able to encounter such wonderful art!
