NeSprite for AfterEffects

NeSprite for AfterEffects is a plugin version of the powerful dot conversion tool "NeSprite" for Adobe After Effects, capable of converting any video or effect into dots.

Installation Method

Download the Zip file from Booth's download page and unzip it in an appropriate location. You will find a file named "NeSprite.aex". Copy and paste this file into [C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects 2024\Support Files\Plug-ins].

After launching After Effects, it will automatically load, and a category called "Hiyameshi" will be created in the effects section, containing "NeSprite."

How to Use

Factor

Adjust the scaling factor of the image with the Factor slider.

Dithering

When the number of colors in the dithering palette is small, color banding becomes noticeable. It is beneficial to adjust the dithering method according to the number of colors in the palette.

1. None - No dithering

2. m4x4 - Standard dithering [Default]

3. m8x8 - Strong dithering

4. m8x4 - A special vertical dithering

Dither Level

A slider to adjust the strength of dithering.
The default is -1.0, where subtractive processing and directionality lead to an increase in brightness.

Alpha from src

Check whether to inherit the alpha channel from source pixels. This is useful when other effects like blur cause inconsistent opacity in pixels, or when converting effects created in Ae to dots.

☐ - Only pixels with 100% opacity are transparent

CRT Filter

Checkbox for applying a CRT filter.

Palette

Configure the palette used for conversion.

・None :Conversion without using a palette.

・Picker Mode :Convert using eight colors selected with color pickers as the palette.

・Others (NES, GBC, Commodore, etc.): Use pre-registered palettes to execute conversions. More palettes will be added in the future.

Important Notes

• This is a Windows-only plugin.

• Does not display correctly with bit depths other than '8bpc'.

• May not work with certain versions of After Effects.

• Always verify functionality with the demo version before purchasing.

• Redistribution is prohibited.
