Thought on stress, breathing, body, disease, diet

Everything is connected.

Today, I had a chance to talk to my yoga teacher and realized one thing once again, while having a discussion with her.

“ since everything is connected, life and business can change for the better by understanding its interconnectedness.”

For example, I had been both mentally and physically in terrible shape for quite some time before starting practicing yoga .

I had to struggle a lot because of my ignorance, not knowing what to do with negativities. I, however, tried to figure out what caused issues and then made slight changes in my daily lives. After a while, my body, slowly but surely, regained some balance thanks to yoga.

Reflecting on my issues, they were as follows:

1 exposed to lots of stress mostly from business

2 bodily range of motion stiff and narrow

3 diet full of additives

4 shallow breathing

5 overweight

6 thickened blood

In retrospect, it occurred to me that they are all interconnected.

No matter how hard I tried, I was unable to get out of these vicious circles in which everything seemed bleak and hopeless.

Yet, my overall health recovered to some degree after altering those bad habits.

that said, I do not mean to claim that my method fits all, but there is one thing I am quite sure of: whatever situations we are stuck in, there must be ways to improve them by stepping back and recalling a simple fact of life “ everything is connected, therefore what one can do is figure out as much issues facing us as possible all by ourselves or with a help of others and discover our own paths to recovery “

Take, for example, our daily lives. we are more or less constantly exposed to one stress or another and so it seems pretty much impossible to completely avoid them.

It seems to me, however that we could get ourselves out of a downward spiral by properly understanding these relationships “ stress=shallow breathing=leading to a stiff body=gateway to multiple diseases”.

That is, the moment we feel stressed, we force ourselves to pay attention to breathing and slowly breathe in and out. This way, we could create in mind space/a gap between stimulation and response, remind ourselves that we are about to ruin our lives.

Or when we notice that a stiff body or narrow bodily range of motion could lead to a disease, we may incorporate yoga or other exercises that help make body flexible into our lives.

Regarding diet, when in bad shape, we may be able to regain some health by abstaining from stimulants such as meat, additives, alcohol, caffeine.

Trying my hardest to figure out these connectivities, I came to a conclusion that life and business are inextricably linked, and so when noticing that we are stuck in a vicious circle, we remind ourselves that don’t hold on to one issue, but try to find out as much issues as possible and make changes to each one of them. That is, what matters is to become aware of them and apply a holistic approach to life.

To summarize, I realized once again that what counts in life is to understand that everything is connected, I should strive for wholeness without sticking to a single element/issue.

I can surely make my life better first by stepping back from where I am and objectively observe issues facing me, make changes to them and carry on, even though I lose balance from time to time.
