The Story From University Of British Colombia: If You Want To Improve Your Sleep Quality Use “That Thing!!”

Totally interesting study has shown up for “Improving Sleeping Quality” so I want to share it with you.

It comes from University of British Colombia. They picked 155 participants and instructed them like this below↓
* From now, we will give each of you a T-shirts please use it for your pillow case for a while.

I know it sounds odd and surreal offer the participants was got. Well, what the research wanted was exactly this “thethe influence of body odor for sleep”. The University researcher similar one on 2018, the result showed “When person smells a stranger’s body odor increases their stress levels.

That’s why they wanted to know even the body odor influences for a sleep because of influence of stress levels increased on an environment like just smelling the stranger’s shirts. They must have strong preference for body odor for sure.

The researcher prepares the participants three different T-shirts like below↓
* Non-worn T-shirts
* T-shirts which their partner worn
* T-shirts which stranger worn

The T-shirts was worn for 24 hours which have had rather strong smell on it.

How the researchers monitor the participant’s sleep quality?
They used “actigraphy” which is a wrist watch and every morning, the participants wrote a questioner that asked them like “how much sleep will last night?” The participants slept two nights with a pillow with odor.

What the result showed?
According to the researcher...
“One of amazing discovery was even unconsciousness of the sleepers, their sleep quality got improved. The actigraph data showed the participants with odor pillow, even they didn’t know what odor from the pillow they sense, they didn’t turn over in bed and reduced nocturnal awakening.”

As the researchers expected when people sleeps being surrounded by partner’s odor, even they don’t know where it comes from but sleep quality would improved.

Moreover from the researcher...
“From the result they got they found new evidence for improvement of sleep efficiency. The participant’s sleep efficiency went up to more than 2%.”

The researcher gave high praise to efficiency for odor. Well,I hear you that “2%? Is doesn’t sound getting such praise?” Let’s say as you know when you sleep there biochemical compound named “melatonin” also hits almost same percentage that is why we have a supplement of melatonin.

So why we smell painter’s odor that improves our sleep?
* Because your partner’s existence is related with feel “relax”, “sense of security”, and “composure”. That is why the partner’s odor may be its substitution perhaps.
