<Foreword>
In China, there is a game called Tien Gow, which is played using pai gow tiles with two types of dice on them.
I had a lot of fun with Tien Gow, so I tried arranging it to match Japanese Hanafuda.
If you are interested, please purchase the pai gow tiles and also play with the original creation, Tien Gow.
<Preparation>
The number of cards is 40 by removing April (green wisteria) and May (iris).
The first temporary parent is decided by rock-paper-scissors.
You will receive 9 white (10 points) and 10 black (1 points) 100 points in total.
I use Go stones to create a Japanese atmosphere, but if you don't have any Go stones, you can substitute masho sticks, game chips, poker chips, etc.
<Composition of tag>
There are two suits, Kass and Charisma (other than Kass).
Strength is strongest in January and weakest in December.
January (Pine)
February (Plum)
March (cherry blossom)
June (peony)
July (Akahagi)
August (Awn)
September (chrysanthemum)
October (autumn leaves)
November (Yanagi)
December (Paulownia)
<How to play>
Mix the cards spread out on the table and take 10 cards per person.
The parent becomes the first lead player (the person who decides how to put out the cards) and puts 1 to 4 cards into play.
The rule of how to put out is the same month.
If the lead player can put out a stronger card (not in the same month) in the same combination clockwise (so that the number of Kass and Charisma is the same as the lead player), you can put it face up. If you can't put out a stronger card, or if you can't put it out, turn the same number of cards face down as the lead player and don't participate in the game. If face down, no need to match lead player composition.
If 4 people put out the card, the person who put out the strongest card gets all the cards and becomes the next lead player.
Stack up every four cards you receive and place them beside you. (Turn your card face up and put it on top)
If you haven't taken one by the last game, you will be forced to not participate in the last game. (Cannot be put out face up)
Participation is possible if the last lead player starts with 2 or more cards.
The winner is the one who wins the last game.
<Score calculation>
The loser pays the winner by calculating plus 1 point for every 4 cards taken from minus 5 points.
Even if you become a loser, if you take 24 or more cards, it becomes a plus and the winner pays.
If no card is taken, minus 5 points plus penalty minus 2 points, total minus 7 points, will be paid to the winner.
Each time the parent wins in a row, the score is multiplied by the number of consecutive wins. (If the parent wins, the child's payment is multiple times the winning streak, and if the child wins, only the parent's payment is multiple times the winning streak)
The first parent is a temporary parent, so it is 1x.
<Special role>
★Three same suit (three of the same suit are taken out)
The only combinations of 3 cards of the same suit are 3 in Kass in December (Paulownia) and 3 in Charisma in November (Yanagi). (both invincible)
If you win with 3 cards, including 3 cards of the same suit, or 4 cards, you will receive 3 points from everyone on the spot.
If the last game is won under the above conditions, the loser's payment is tripled instead of 3 points.
★Fourth same month (4 peonies or more)
If you win with 4 cards of January (pine), February (plum), March (cherry blossom), and June (peony), you will receive 4 points from everyone on the spot.
If you win the last game under the above conditions, the loser's payment will be 4 times instead of 4 points.
If the lead player leads with 4 pieces of July (Akahagi), August (Awn), September (Chrysanthemum), and October (Momiji), it will not be a special role bonus, and it will trigger 4 or more peonies, so be careful!
★Steel Heart
If you win the last game with 1 December Kass or 1 Charisma, the loser pays double.
★Retaliation
In the final game, the lead player plays 1 December Kass or 1 Charisma and wins with the November card.
