    今回は木島桜谷の「雨中鵁鶄図」です。落款から推察すると、明治時代末期(明治40年ぐらいか)の作品だと考えられます。「鵁鶄」とは五位鷺のことのようです。
    落款から明治37年頃の作品で「生」と記されているので、景年塾時代の作品かなと思っています。
    凄く単純な構図で余白が殆どという感じなのですが、照明で黒い五位鷺が前面に出てくるような感じがします。また、後ろの背景の木のボカシをいかして、鳥を浮きたたせることにより、鳥に躍動感を与えています。
    面白い作品だと思います。

 I think it is a work from the Keinen cram school era from the seal"生" written by him.
 It is a work with a simple composition and a lot of margins.However, there is a feeling that the night heron comes out to the front due to the effect of lighting. In addition, the heron is given a sense of dynamism by making the heron float by making use of the blur of the tree in the background behind.
 I think it's an interesting work.
