    今回は濱田観作「早春(白梅之図)」をご紹介します。
    1898年に兵庫県姫路市で生まれました。最初から画家になるつもりではなく、はじめは大阪に出て商業デザインの仕事に従事していました。しかし、この仕事がきっかけで絵画に興味を持つようになり、信濃橋洋画研究所にて画の基本的な技術を学びました。やがて、金島桂華の紹介で竹内栖鳳の門下となります。また京都市立絵画専門学校に入学し本格的に日本画家を目指し、在学中の1933年第14回帝展に出品した「八仙花」で初入選を果たしました。37歳で同校を卒業後は40年に文展で蒼穹賞を受賞、戦後は日展を活動の中心にして活躍し、出品して1947年に出展した｢芥子｣で、また、1949年に「蓮池」が特選を受賞します。さらに1965年に日本芸術院賞に選出、74年に日本芸術院会員に就任しています。
    彼は花鳥画を得意とした日本画家です。自然をしっかり観察し、その美しさや奥深さを追求したうえで丁寧に描き、優しい色調を持って彩られた作品が多く残されています。特に花、鳥、鯉などをモチーフに穏やかかつ柔らかい筆致で幽玄味のある画趣を展開し、装飾性の強い作品を残しています。
    今回の作品もその特徴を遺憾無く発揮されていると思います。ただ単に白梅の花を描くのではなく、様々な色を重ね描いた背景にこの白梅の花を描くことにより、幽玄な世界感を醸し出しています。見る者の心を癒やす様な作品ですね。
 This time, I would like to introduce Kan Hamada's "Early Spring (White Plum Blossoms)".
 He was born in 1898 in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture. From the beginning, he did not intend to become a painter, he went to Osaka and engaged in commercial design work. However, this job sparked his interest in painting, and he learned the basic techniques of painting at the Shinanobashi Western Painting Institute. Before long, he was introduced by Keika Kanashima and became a disciple of Takeuchi Seiho. He also entered the Kyoto Municipal Painting College and aimed to become a Japanese painter in earnest, and in 1933, when he was still a student, he exhibited for the first time at the 14th Teiten Exhibition. After graduating from the same school at the age of 37, he won the Sokyu Prize at the Bunten Exhibition in 1940. "Hasuike" won the special prize. In 1965, he was selected for the Japan Art Academy Award, and in 1974 he became a member of the Japan Art Academy.
 He was a Japanese painter who specializes in bird-and-flower painting. He carefully observed nature, pursued its beauty and depth, and painted carefully, leaving many works colored with gentle tones. In particular, he used flowers, birds, carp, and other motifs as his motifs, and used gentle and soft brushstrokes to develop a subtle and profound painting style, leaving works with a strong decorativeness.
 I think that this feature of his work is fully demonstrated. Rather than simply drawing white plum blossoms, by drawing these white plum blossoms on a background of various colors, it creates a mysterious world. It is a work that heals the heart of the viewer.
