Why don't you go see Snow Monkeys in Nagano!
Let's see wild monkeys in Onsen, now it is very famous for the tourist and a must-see! We will give you some tips to go see Snow Monkey Park below!
*Please note that the information below is for the guests who stay at Guest House KURA. It's not the service to all tourists.
Train
When you arrive at Nagano station, please take the local train, Nagano Dentetsu Line. Please note that you need to catch the train at latest 11:33 from Nagano station to Suzaka station.
You will arrive at Suzaka station at 11:49 and you can drop off your luggage at the second floor of tourist information center, which is in front of Suzaka Station.
Then go back to the station and catch the train at 12:17 from Suzaka to Yudanaka station, the final stop.
If you take the train from Suzaka at 12:17, then you will arrive at Yudanaka at 12:57, and take a bus at 13:15 from Yudanaka station to the bus stop "Snow Monkey Park".
From this bus stop, you have to walk about 40 mins to Snow Monkey Park, the admission fee for Snow Monkey Park will be 800 JPY.
Luggage
You can leave your luggage at the tourist information center before getting the next train! On the second floor, you can see the counter and ask them. please note that you have to pick it up by 5:00pm.
Or please let us know that you left your luggage there, then sometimes we can pick them up by car before your check in!
Let's take a walk around Shibu Onsen area!
After visiting Snow Monkey Park, what about enjoying taking a walk around Shibu Onsen area?
It's a very traditional Onsen town. I recommend you to go back to Yudanaka station on foot with taking a walk around there, it takes an hour.
There is a Japanese traditional hotel, called "Kanaguya"(金具屋）in this area.
If you know the movie "Spirited Away", you should go to see it because it is said that it is one of the models of that movie, enjoy taking photos!
If you would like to go Onsen, there is one, called "Kaede no Yu" (楓の湯）just next to Yudanaka Station.
It's a natural Onsen, and they have inside and outside bathes and it is separated, male and female, it will be 300 JPY.
