About Yellow...

It is believed to have an influence on the left side of the human brain and helps foster deep analytical thinking.
Its promoting happiness and optimism in the observer really quickly and is one of the most radiant colors we can perceive: The color yellow.

Yellow is the brightest color and placed between orange and green on the spectrum of visible light.
It is evoked by light with a dominant wavelength of roughly 570-590 nm.
Also sunlight has a slight yellowish hue when the Sun is near the horizon, due to atmospheric scattering of shorter wavelengths such as green, blue, and violet. This is due to so cackled atmospheric scattering of shorter wave-lengths such as green, blue, and violet.

Yellow is complex!

Of course the effects of yellow can be highly varied and complex.
Not everyone responds to this color in the same way.
While some people might find it bright and cheery, others may find it grating and obnoxious. Some may associate it with a warm summer day and a warm feeling.

As the most visible of all colors yellow tends to be very intense -
which is why it can evoke very strong feelings.
It is also the most noticeable color for the human eye, which is why yellow does quickly grab attention. Even only used in a very small amount it will draw notice easily and immediately, such as on advertisements or traffic signs.


On the other hand it can also be abrasive when used too much or in an inappropriate way or combined with the „wrong“ colors. As we know now while the color yellow can evoke a lot of different psychological reactions, the responses are often unique to the individual.

Yet there are some responses - such as the tendency to find yellow pretty difficult to read - are pretty universal. When used in a design or Layout in a typographical context it is hard being read properly because it’s causing fatiguing to the eye due to the high amount of light that is reflected. In extreme cases using yellow as a background on paper or computer monitors it can lead to eyestrain or even vision loss.

yellow can also be frustrating 

While it is considered a cheerful color in general, yellow increases your metabolism and can also create feelings of frustration and anger. Scientists found out that people who have a discussion or fight in a yellow room are more likely to lose their tempers and babies tend to cry more.
This is why using this color and it’s effects are very relying on what other colors its combined with it and how close it is to other shades such as orange or green etc.

energetic warmth

As an often very warm interpreted color it is sometimes used in designs, products or situations intended to create a sense of excitement or energy.
It appears intensely fresh, and can be sometimes overwhelming and aggressive or even confrontational or forceful. One may also feel irritated or even get angry when surrounded by this color in huge quantities.

Yellow in Design

In design the way we use yellow is very closely connected to what we do link to it’s spiritual and natural connotations. Yellow can bring a positive, optimistic and cheerful spirit to your design.
This has many reasons. In a spiritual way yellow is connected to power and fulfillment, abundance, courage, self-confidence and has stood also for wisdom and intellect throughout the ages. Furthermore it aids logic, memory, concentration, will - power and communication. 

For especially representing also clarity and sunlight, advertisers may use it to draw attention and also in order to evoke a sense of happiness. If fun, quick understanding and low cost are the important factors to your target audience, you should consider yellow as a main color in your design.
If used as a secondary color it is effective in order to highlight important parts and bring order to informations in an effective way.
