Battleship Island, officially known as Hashima Island, is an abandoned island located off the coast of Nagasaki Prefecture in Japan. It earned its nickname due to its resemblance to a battleship when viewed from a distance. The island was once a bustling coal mining facility owned by the Mitsubishi Corporation, housing thousands of workers and their families during its peak in the early 20th century.
