少年のような支那の前皇帝であったヘンリー・溥儀は、旅順港の近くで軟禁状態で隠居していましたが、満州の新しい政府の最初の大統領候補に指名されていると、本日、ある方面から報告がありました。懐疑派は、ある少数派の野望を代弁しただけだと断言しています。しかし、多くの記者は政権構想に必要になる重要な空白部分である大統領の名前を予測しています。

Henry Pu Yi, former boy Emperor of China, who is in closely guarded retirement near Port Arthur, is reported in some quarters today as slated to be the first President of the new separate government of Manchuria. Skeptics asserted the report represented only the ambitions of certain factions but in the numerous press forecasts of the make-up of the new regime there were significant blanks where the name of the President should have appeared.
