56. Welcome Blue: Family BBQ

I tried the following speaking/listening/coloring INFORMATION GAP activity today at Preschool. The material comes from Welcome to Learning World BLUE textbook:

Page 18 & 19:

and the workbook, page 14:

Divide the class into 2 groups: younger, less experienced Ss and older, experienced Ss. 

The younger Ss sit at their tables with a copy of workbook Pg 14 and crayons.
The older Ss sit away from the tables, and able to see the textbook pg 18 & 19, as well as a semi-colored copy of workbook Pg 14:

STAGE 1:
The older Ss need to have the younger Ss color these pictures in the same way. 
Older Ss: “Please color grandma pink!” “Please color the two brothers green!” etc.
The younger students need to listen to their older friends and color their pictures accordingly.

STAGE 2:
Now that each family member on the workbook page is color-coded, the other items on the page need to be colored in the same colors. This information is in 
the textbook Pg 18 & 19, and only the older Ss can look at it. As they look at the pages, they make the mental connections between the family members on the workbook and the other items.
They then approach their younger friends and support them directly:
“Please color this light blue” (Grandpa’s glasses)
“Please color this blue” (Dad’s jacket). 
this continues until all items are colored.
