DSC registration on GST Portal

Digital Signature Certificates or commonly known as DSC are the digital equivalent of paper or physical certificates. This Certificate serves as identity proof of an individual for a specific purpose. There are three kinds of certificates for which DSC Registration can be obtained.

• Class 1 Certificate:

Class 1 certificates are issued for both private individuals and business personnel use. These certificates will validate that the information in the application stated by the subscriber does not quarrel with the information in acclaimed consumer databases.

• Class 2 Certificate:

Class 2 certificates are issued for both business personnel and private individuals use. These certificates will verify that the information in the application stated by the subscriber does not clash with the information in acclaimed consumer databases.

• Class 3 Certificate:

Class 3 certificate are issued to organizations as well as individuals. As these certificates are high assurance, mainly intended for e-commerce applications, they are issued to individuals only when the person appears in person before the Certifying Authorities.

emSigner Utility

Before you obtain DSC registration on GST Portal, you need to install the emSigner utility. The emSigner utility is available for download from the Register DSC page. DSC registration is PAN card based and only Class 2 and Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate are accepted on the official GST Portal. Additionally, Digital Signature Certificate is mandatory for signing in case the GST registration was acquired for:

Procedure of DSC Registration for new registration

The following procedure must be followed for new registrations of DSC on the GST portal:
• First step is to Visit “https://www.gst.gov.in/.”
• Now, click the link that says 'REGISTER NOW'.
• The Temporary Reference Number option should be selected by the applicant and in the same field, enter the TRN that you have received.
• Click the'PROCEED' option.
• Now enter the OTP sent to your registered email ID and mobile number in the mobile / email OTP field.
• Click the'PROCEED' option.
• Press on the'Services' option and the drop-down menu will provide you options from which applicant has to select'User Services' and then click on'Register / Update DSC Command'.

The following procedure must be followed for existing DSC registration on the GST portal:

• The first step is to visit the GST login portal and enter the valid credentials.
• Now, Click on the 'My Profile' option.
• Opt for the'Register / Update DSC' option. 

• The applicant will be redirected to the'Register Digital Signature Certificate' page, in which you will have to press on the drop-down listing thatsays'PAN of Authorized Signatory'. 

• Now, opt for the PAN of the authorized signatory that has to be registered.

• The next step Is To Check The'I Have Downloaded And Installed The Signer Checkbox'.

• Click The'PROCEED' Option.

• Select The Certificate And Click The'Sign' Option.

• A Message Will Be Appear On The Screen, Quoting "Your DSC Has been successfully registered ”.

Updation of Digital Signature Certificate on the GST Portal

After your DSC has been renewed, it must be updated on the GST portal. The following is the method to update the Digital Signature Certificate on the GST portal:
• The first step is to visit “https://www.gst.gov. in. ”
• Put in the valid credentials to log in to the portal.
• Press on the link that says 'My Profile'.
• Click the link 'Register / Update DSC'. 

• The applicant will be redirected to the “Register DSC” ”Page, in which the applicant has to press on the drop-down list“ PAN of Authorized Signatory ”.

• Opt for the PAN of the authorized signatory that has to be registered.

• Choose the 'UPDATE ' option. 

• The applicant will be asked to confirm whether you want to re-register your Digital Signature Certificate, click the 'CONTINUE' option.

• Select the certificate and click the 'Sign' option.

• On the screen a message will appear that quotes “DSC has been successfully updated”.
