Biography
我妻恵美子 Emiko AGATSUMA
Butoh dancer, choreographer and director
Representative of AGAXART
Based in JAPAN
After graduating from Waseda University, Emiko joined the Butoh company Dairakudakan in 1999 and has sarted career as a Butoh dancer. In 2020, she became independent and established the production team AGAXART, planning and managing Butoh workshops, performances, and events.
With the physical phirosophy of Butoh as the core, she helps participants discover diversity of expression and refine their sensitivity while exploring their inner selves.
In creation, we emphasize fieldwork and present Butoh works that contain new insights. She has presented her own works and held workshops in Japan and abroad.

AGAXART's Mission
AGAXART is a production team dedicated to enhancing people's creativity through exploration of the body, spirit, and soul. We offer workshops and performances through the physical philosophy of Butoh, providing opportunities for participants to discover inner richness and refine their sensitivity.
We emphasize fieldwork and create Butoh works that contain new insights. We actively engage in exchanges with different cultures and work to increase interest in local resources and history both in Japan and abroad.
Through our interactions with people, we contribute to the growth and improvement of physical expression in Japan.

Butoh workshop for everybody
I like to meet new people.
I would be happy if more people around the world become interested in Butoh, create with us, and enjoy our work. We offer both in-person workshops and online workshops as well.
We have more than 200 participants every year, both in Japan and overseas.
We also offer private workshops based on your requests and levels. Please contact us if you are interested in it.
