My instructor in school that played with Andy Kirk and the way he lipped the trumpet, it's like me kissing a woman.

It used to give me a thrill once I would do that.

Because I used to take scissors and you turn the scissors around and you can look in the mirror and see what you're doing wrong.

This is very important when you're learning an instrument.

I went to the basketball game last night, obviously.

Well, because the game wasn't going the way I wanted it to.

No, sometimes I think about my work 24 hours before it even happens.

And a friend of mine, Terry Williams, had told me a story about taking you to a game.

And since I was real close, I heard the squeaking of the shoes.

And she had told me how you hear music when you're close to a basketball game.

How does that thing work?

And then as close as I get to the basket, you can hear guys sliding on bricks.

Have you ever composed anything based on basketball?

I know Grover Washington did a thing called Let It Flow, which was to Julia Serving.

But I could sample the guys running a full court and then making a basket.
