〇第64回グラミー賞(グラミー2022年)ノミネート発表

第64回グラミー賞のノミネート作品、全86部門が2021年11月23日(日本時間24日午前2時から)発表された。授賞式は2022年1月31日月曜夜8時(日本時間2月1日火曜午前10時)から。約3時間半にわたって生放送される。アメリカではCBSから、日本ではWOWOWで生放送される。

グラミーは例年日曜日に行われるが、今年は1月30日にアメリカン・フットボールのリーグ優勝戦があるために、それをさけて月曜になった。中継はどちらもCBS。

今年の最大のサプライズは主要4部門が突然これまでの8候補から10候補に増えた点。かなり土壇場での決定だったようだ。いちおう、様々な多様性を反映するため、とされている。

今回は2020年9月1日から2021年9月30日までに全米リリースされたものが対象。「レコード・オブ・ジ・イヤー」には1172作品が応募、「ソング」には1163作品、「アルバム」には837作品、「新人賞」には463のエントリーがあった。そこから各10ずつ選ばれた。 

候補が10に増えることにより、受賞確率はノミネートの中からは減ることになるが、窓口が広がることにはなる。一般論になるが、最低でも11~12%以上の得票を得ないと受賞に至らない。たとえば、30%くらい得票するアーティストが二組いた場合、どちらかは30%を獲得しても、受賞できない。そうした点も踏まえ、NARASは、少なくとも主要4部門の投票をクリアにし、各候補の得票率を公表することが求められる。どういう形で受賞したかがわかるといい。

今年の最大の話題は、ニューオーリンズ出身のジョン・バティースト(日本での表記は現在バティステ)がクラシック部門も含めなんと11部門でノミネートされたこと。現在毎晩放送されている『ザ・レイト・ショー・ウィズ・スティーブン・コルバート』のレギュラー・バンドのバンド・マスターを務めている。また映画『ソウル』の音楽を担当し、同作品でアカデミー賞「ベスト・オリジナル・スコア」を受賞している。

また、最近のグラミーは、アカデミーの影響を受けているというか意識しているというか、ノミネート作品もアカデミーにならって候補を従来の5候補から8-10に増やしている。アカデミーは2009年から「ベスト・ピクチャー」の候補数を5から10の間に増やしている。

もうひとつアカデミーを踏襲するとすれば、ノミネート期間の締切をアカデミーのようにできるだけ投票日直前まで近づけるということ。現在の9月末締切、投票1月頭、発表1月末もしくは2月頭では実質4カ月くらいの空白が生まれてしまう。たとえば、現状の9月末締切、11月下旬候補発表、1月末本授賞式だが、11月末締切12月末候補発表、1月頭投票、1月末か2月初旬授賞式などのようにできないだろうか。

昨年のウィークエンド問題などもあり、選考の透明性もさらに求められる。常に賛否両論のグラミー・ノミネートだけにそのあたりもおいおいまとめてみよう。
