~Three Energies of Atomic Bomb: No2.HEAT~"75Years Hiroshima"Dr.SOKO DAY7/50

〜HEAT,3000-4000℃ on ground〜

Heat  burned people. It is the specific energy that Nuke can emit.
The center temperature of Atomic bomb just before exploding was over 2.5million degree Celsius. When its shock wave hits surrounding air,it appears as a pale white fireball, and after 0.2 seconds the surface of the fireball became 6000 degrees and the diameter was 310 meters.

Two seconds later, 90% of all heat rays were emitted, and many people were deeply burned. At this point, a large amount of gamma rays, which is radiation, is emitted and reacts with the atmosphere, so that the sky looks purple.

If you wake up more than that, you are likely to die. There were many people who had deep burn of a life-threatening level.

Heat and Radiation


In Hiroshima and Nagasaki, it was a hot summer. So people wore light cloths. Some people were working off their clothes. Many of the people who worked outdoors, where there are no buildings that block the heat rays, instantly have charcoal-like skin. People who looked up at the silver plane and stared at the fireball, not only burned their faces, but some got blind. The intensity of the heat rays caused awful trauma to people. Moreover, their mental damage with the injury cannot be expressed in words.

Their deep burn are not same as a usual burn. Because people were exposed to radiation as well. Their recovery does not proceed because movements and functions of their organs and function of immunity get down. Many of patients had pus with their wound. Maggots were well seen on wounds. After all, pathogens went through people's body, a lot of patients with burn died. 

Treatment of Burn


If you do not wash a burn wound, it must get infected. Burn is easily get worse and influence on a whole body sometimes.


The only way to wash the wound at the hypocenter is to wash it with water that is contaminated with radiation. It may be possible that this resulted in increased internal exposure. However, washing wounds can prevent infectious diseases, so washing wounds with water from a broken water pipe in such a situation is definitely not a mistake.

Rather, considering the risk of infection, it is necessary to wash the wound, and even if there is some radiation contamination, it is necessary to wash the wound with a large amount of water flowing from the tap water. The effects of radiation may be smaller when using water from a broken water pipe rather than drinking water from a river or reservoir that radiation-containing ash, etc. However, there are few literatures on securing a water source for the hypocenter and safety of water pipes, and I think it should be considered in the future.


On the other hand, heat rays simply cause a fire. 

A heat of 3000-4000 degrees ignited a house made of wood. A large number of people who were trapped under the houses destroyed by the blast were killed by this fire.
