~Things My Aunt Saw in Hiroshima①~"75 Years Atomic Bomb" Dr.Soko's DAY9/50

My aunt was exposed Atomic Bomb in Hiroshima at the age of fifteen. She was in a train that was stopped on the premises of Hiroshima station. The very moment the train moved, Nobuko felt a terrible shock. (See "A-bomb 75 years ago, doctor talks about 50-day marathon: Day 2".) At that time, She thought it was a gas explosion and fortunately the train she was in arrived at Kure Station as the last train departed on August 6th, after the atomic bomb's explosion.

"Grandma..."

Nobuko was living with her grandmother in Hiroshima at that time. She worried so much about her. That night, Nobuko stayed her parents' house. Being with her mother and family must be happy , but she cannot stop thinking of her grandma. To see Nobuko, her mother said her "Don't got to Hiroshima. So dangerous for now."

But Nobuko headed to Hiroshima alone on the early morning of August 7.

Fortunately, Nobuko was not hurt so much at the moment of explosion of an atomic bomb. So, Nobuko's attention can turn to the what she saw, perhaps because she did not have any pain she had to care, while many people with pain could not afford to look around. The scenes, sounds, and smells of misery of Hiroshima have permeated Nobuko's memory. Aunt Nobuko is a bright and energetic person, even now at the age of 90. But such a person, still jumps up in a nightmare even now. For 75 years, Nobuko has never forgotten Hiroshima, who wandered around looking for her grandmother.

People Passing By

"Kaitaichi, Kaitaichi."
A conductor's big voice told a name of station which was 2 stations away from Hiroshima. Everyone got off the train there. It is said that a train cannot pass the railroad line ahead. 
"I can walk at about 2 stations. Okay."
 Nobuko said. People wearing soot, a black face, and tattered clothes slowly passed by.

Is that a woman? Burnt hair stands upright as if thin wires were intertwined.
"Grandma...!"
She looked into her face, but Nobuko couldn't see her expression  because her skin was burnt and it was hanging down from her face. However, to see the remaining skin, Nobuko found that she was a much younger person than Grandma.

There was a woman as tall as Nobuko's grandmother, so when she looked at her. Her face was like a mottled red and gray board, and it was like the charcoal mask seemed to hang from the board. However, her way of walking seemed different from that of grandma. 

The body of the carbonized person was rolling under his feet.

The people who passed Nobuko were the ones who were burned by the heat rays, underlaid of the building collapsed by the blast, and eventually crawled out of debris. But they are unaware of the radiation at this time, but they were eroded by radiation even at that moment.
