Debris of House "75 Years Hiroshima" Dr.Soko Day21/50

(Nobuko was exposed A_bomb at Hiroshima Station. Miraculously she took the last train of the day to Kure. However, she returned to Hiroshima in the morning of August 7 to find her grandma who lived together. Finally, she came to the place where their house was.)

Debris of the house

Nobuko walked along the river alone, remembering what was there before the new type bomb exploded.

Nobuko heard that it was called "the new type bomb" when she arrived at Kure station yesterday. Her big sister, a staff of  Kure station, told so to Nobuko, because she heard through radio communication, that Army was shouting "Hiroshima was destroyed by a new type bomb!".

Nobuko was on a street. It was  where timber stores and temples were lined up. There were wooden houses and shops side by side, but now it is a completely burnt field. It's almost up to Dohashi, but there is no road boundary and Nobuko doesn't know where she was walking.

Grandma's house should be in sight from where Nobuko is standing now, but everything has been burned and the rubble is spreading, losing the boundaries of the houses. Everybody has no idea where the house is. Nobuko managed to find a railroad track near the Dohashi tram station and found a place where this area would be Grandma's home.

She stood on a stack of charred debris and shouted.
"Grandma!"
There was no reply.
Gusts of wind make a loud noise and wind up sand and dust.
She stood firmly with her feet and raised her voice so that voice wouldn't be blown away.
"Grand-ma!"
She could only hear the sound of the wind.

She suddenly saw a familiar round shape in the soil under the debris. It was the pot Grandma always used. Grandma and Nobuko cooked sweet red beans sauce together. A part of the pot was melted and bent, but the pan reminded of happy time with grandma.

Then Nobuko sought the grandma's clues and dug up the rubble and soil around the pot with both hands. The shards of teacups, broken plates and pieces of melted glass...they were living together with Nobuko until yesterday.

"Grandma may be under the debris around here..."

She dug up the rubble with both hands, but she couldn't find any clue of Grandma. She dug with the pan but found nothing. Then she moved to another location and continued digging at random.

Suddenly, she saw something like the corner of a black box.
"That must be a family altar of Grandma's."

It was not an altar.

 That was an overturned table.

She pulled it out. Then, ball-like things rolled out with rubbles to her feet.
Nobuko looked at them, and stepped back. Those balls were human heads, a man and his wife who lived next door.

"Oh, God..!"

Nobuko knew them well. They were used to have a tea together at the black table.
They were alive yesterday. Nobuko had a chat with them.

She saw their heads, alone.

She could not stand up for a while.

She put her hands together in front of her chest, and prayed for them. That's only thing what she could.
