American Soldiers exposed(2/3)" 75 Years A-Bomb" Dr.Soko DAY14/50

Mr.Mori's Hug with US President Barack Obama

During the president's visit to Hiroshima, a photo gained world-wide attention. That was a moment of hugging with President and  Mr.Mori Shigeaki who is a writer and researcher about Allied prisoners of the war in Hiroshima.  He researched as his life-work about American who was in Hiroshima near the hypocenter.

Mr. Mori himself was also an A-bomb survivor who was exposed 2.5 km away from the hypocenter. On August 6, he was blown into the river by a blast and saw an overhead mushroom cloud.

He repeatedly fly to the US to  look for the soldiers' family and share what he researched. He voluntarily donated a plaque to commemorate American soldiers in a site of former Chugoku Military Police Headquaters, where they were in at the moment of the explosion of Atomic bomb.

Paintings of American Soldiers Japanese Draw

After the war, there was a project to invite public participation and gather drawings and paintings of atomic bomb from Hibakusha who experienced A-bomb.

Mr. Mori found 14 paintings of American soldiers among the 2000 atomic bomb paintings created by A-bomb survivors. Most were witnessed to the east of Aioi Bridge, but witnesses were also found to the west. In a case my aunt Nobuko saw, she remembered that an American soldier she saw was tied near the crossing of Hatchobori.

Mr. Mori, who is an A-bomb victim himself, began to investigate how Americans died in Hiroshima for decades of his life.

12 Soldiers Under The Mushroom Cloud

The picture of the A-bomb depicts an American soldier tied to a bent pole near the east eade of the Aioi bridge. He was lying face down.

"An American soldier was tied up with chains on the banister to the east of Aioi Bridge"

According to Mr.Mori's research, there were 12 American soldiers who were  bombed in Hiroshima. They were fighting in the sea-air battle off Kure on July 28. They were crashed and caught as prisoners. Some of their colleagues  were killed in a crash. In this naval battle, the Japanese fleet was almost wiped out.

The soldiers escaped at the time of the crash, captured at the parachute drop-off location, and housed in separate locations, they were taken to the Chinese military police headquarters, 400 meters from the hypocenter of Hiroshima. From July 28th to 30th, 15 people were brought in. Three of these were taken to Tokyo on August 5, the day before the atomic bombing. It seems that the persons who shot the civilian with a gun while he was parachuting, and also the captain were supposed to be taken to Tokyo for investigating. Mr. Mori analyzes that the two people on  the TBM except the captain of Lonesome Lady, they were taken by mistake. And the soldier who was found on Aioi Bridge was a person who was supposed to be taken to Tokyo for investigating, according to Mr.Mori's research.
