フランスの画家ポール・セザンヌが生まれた。

ArtDailyは2022年01月19日に、19世紀の概念から、20世紀の芸術的な変遷の基礎として、アートの新しく、根本的に違う世界に置いた後期印象派のフランスのアーティストであったポール・セザンヌ(Paul Cézanne/1839 - 1906)が1839年01月19日に、裕福な銀行家ルイス・オーギュスト・セザンヌ(Louis-Auguste Cézanne/1798 - 1886)とアン・エリザベス・ホノリーン・オベール(Anne-Elisabeth Honorine Aubert/1814 - 1897)の子として南フランスのブーシュ＝デュ＝ローヌ県(Bouches-du-Rhône)の古都エクス＝アン＝プロヴァンス(Aix-en-Provence)で生まれたと報告した。

1839年02月22日に、祖母ローズ・レバファット(Rose Rebuffat/? - ?)と叔父を代親として、マドレーヌ寺院(ÉglisedelaMadeleine)で洗礼を受けている。

彼の父親は、セザンヌ・カバソル銀行(BanqueCézanneetCabassol)の共同創設者であり、アーティストの生涯を通じて繁栄し、同時代のほとんどの人が利用できなかった経済的安全を彼に与え、最終的には膨大な遺産をもたらした。

彼の母親は、エクスの椅子職人の娘で、もともと父親のルイス・オーギュスト・セザンヌの使用人で、ポール・セザンヌが生まれたときは、まだ内縁関係にあったが、1841年に妹マリー(Marie Cézanne/1841 - ?)が生まれた後、1844年に入籍している。
彼女は「生き生きとしていてロマィストで、すぐに怒り出しました。」と言っている。

また、彼には、マリー(Marie Cézanne/1841 - ?)とローズ(Rose Conil (Cézanne)/1854 - ?)という2人の妹がいた。

ポール・セザンヌは、マリー＝オルタンス・セザンヌ(Marie-Hortense Cézanne/1850 - 1922)と結婚し、父親と同じ名前の子ポール・セザンヌ(Paul Cézanne/1872 - 1947)という子供がいた。



ポール・セザンヌは10歳で、エクスのセントジョセフ学校に入学し、1952年にコレージュブルボン(Collège Bourbon/現在は、Collège Mignet)に入学し、のちに自然主義文学の代表的作家となったエミール・ゾラ(Émile Zola/184 - 1902)、バプティスティン・ベイル(Baptistin Baille)とであって、「LesTroisInséparables(3つの不可分/劣等種族)」と言われている。

彼はそこに6年間滞在したが、過去2年間は日学者だった。
1857年、彼はエクスのフリーミュニシパルドローイングスクール(Free Municipal School of Drawing in Aix)に通い始め、そこでスペインの僧侶であるジョセフギベール(Joseph Gibert)の下でドローイングを学び始めた。

当初は、父の希望に従い、1858年から1861年まで、エクス大学の法科大学院法(law school of the University of Aix)に通っていたが、絵のレッスンも受けていた。

先にパリに出ていたゾラの勧めもあり、銀行家の父親の反対に対して、彼は芸術的発展を追求することを約束し、1861年、絵を志してパリに出た。

セザンヌは、モネやルノワール等と共に印象派のグループの一員として活動していたが、1879年頃から、制作場所を故郷のエクス＝アン＝プロヴァンスに移した。

印象派を離れ、平面上に色彩とボリュームからなる独自の秩序をもった絵画を追求するようになり、個人の表現方式と絵画自体の完璧性を堅持し、ポスト印象派の画家として「現代絵画の父」と称されるようになった。

また、長年の親友だったゾラが1886年に小説『作品』を発表した頃から、彼とは疎遠になった。

1895年に画商アンブロワーズ・ヴォラール(Ambroise Vollard/1866 - 1939)がパリで開いたセザンヌの個展が成功し、パリでも知られるようになった。

代表作に「オーヴェール=シュル=オワーズの首吊りの家(The Overture to Tannhäuser)」「自画像(Self portrait)」「カード遊びをする人たち(The Cardplayers)」などがある。
セザンヌの肖像は、ユーロ導入前の最後の100フランス・フラン紙幣(100 Francs - Cézanne)に使用されていた。

また、ArtDailyは2020年01月19日に、シンシナティ美術館(Cincinnati Art Museum)と協力して、トレド美術館(Toledo Museum of Art)で2020年01月18日に、「ピサロ、セザンヌ、マネ＆フレンズの静物画(Still Lifes by Pissarro, Cézanne, Manet & Friends)」展がオープンしたと報告した。

トレド美術館では、2020年04月12日まで展示され、その後、シンシナティに移動し、2020年05月15日から2020年08月9日まで展示されると報告した。

今回公開された作品は、ポール・セザンヌが1885年から1886年の間に描いた「Recto: The Chaîne de l'Etoile Mountains (La Chaîne de l'Etoile avec le Pilon du Roi)」で、織られた紙に水彩絵の具とグラファイトで描かれている。サイズは12 3/8x19 1/8インチ(31.4x48.6 cm)。BF650. Photo © 2015 バーンズ財団(The Barnes Foundation)

セザンヌは、これほど多くのアーティストと接触していた。
彼ほど、大金持ちで、そのお金をうまく活用したアーティストは少ない。
