カーチュン・ウォン
こんにちは。音楽評論家の和田大貴です。今回は、日本のクラシック音楽の未来を描くと言われている才能あふれる指揮者カーチュン・ウォンさんをご紹介させていただきます。
カーチュン・ウォンさんは、シンガポール出身の指揮者で、現在ニュルンベルク交響楽団の首席指揮者と日本フィルハーモニー交響楽団の首席客演指揮者を務めています。
彼は2016年にグスタフ・マーラー国際指揮者コンクールで優勝し、世界中の有名なオーケストラを指揮しています。彼は日本の作曲家にも強い関心を持ち、伊福部昭や芥川也寸志などの作品を積極的に取り上げています。
彼はまた、東南アジアのクラシック音楽の発展にも貢献しており、プロジェクト・インフィニチュードという若手音楽家の育成プログラムを創設しています。
最近のカーチュン・ウォンさんの活動としては、以下のようなものがあります。
10月17日にサントリーホールでカーチュン・ウォンさんの日本フィル首席指揮者就任披露演奏会が行われました。プログラムはマーラーの交響曲第3番で、山下牧子さんがメゾ・ソプラノ、東京少年少女合唱隊が合唱に参加しました。カーチュン・ウォンさんのマーラーは、巨大な作品の細部まで彫琢し、地上から天上までも包み込むような迫力と美しさを表現しました。
10月24日には、日本フィルハーモニー交響楽団と共に、日本の作曲家の作品を紹介する「日本の音楽」シリーズの第1回目の演奏会が開催されました。プログラムは、伊福部昭の「日本の祭り」、芥川也寸志の「トリプティーク」、武満徹の「ノヴェンバー・ステップス」、チナリー・ウンの「ハイ・ホー」でした。カーチュン・ウォンさんは、日本の作曲家の作品に対する深い理解と敬意をもって、西洋とアジアの美学を見事に融合させた演奏を披露しました。
カーチュン・ウォンさんの演奏を聴くと、彼の感性や直感に従って自由に解釈するというスタイルや、西洋とアジアの美学を見事に融合させるという技術に感心しました。

Hello. My name is Daiki Wada and I am a music critic. This time, we would like to introduce the talented conductor Kar-Chun Wong, who is said to be shaping the future of Japanese classical music.
Mr. Kar-Chun Wong is a conductor from Singapore who currently serves as the principal conductor of the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and principal guest conductor of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra.
He won the Gustav Mahler International Conducting Competition in 2016 and conducts famous orchestras around the world. He also has a strong interest in Japanese composers, and actively covers works by Akira Ifukube and Yasushi Akutagawa.
He has also contributed to the development of classical music in Southeast Asia, and founded Project Infinity, a training program for young musicians.

On October 17th, a concert was held at Suntory Hall to announce the appointment of Mr. Kar-Chun Wong as Chief Conductor of the Japan Philharmonic. The program was Mahler's Symphony No. 3, with Makiko Yamashita as mezzo-soprano and the Tokyo Boys and Girls Chorus singing the chorus. Kar-Chun Wong's mala has been carved to the finest detail of his gigantic works, expressing power and beauty that encompasses everything from earth to heaven.
On October 24th, the first concert of the "Japanese Music" series, which introduces the works of Japanese composers, was held with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. The program included Akira Ifukube's ``Japanese Festival,'' Yasushi Akutagawa's ``Triptyque,'' Toru Takemitsu's ``November Steps,'' and Chinary Ung's ``Hi Ho.'' With a deep understanding and respect for the works of Japanese composers, Mr. Kar-Chun Wong performed a performance that perfectly blended Western and Asian aesthetics.
When I listened to Mr. Kar-Chun Wong's performance, I was impressed by his style of freely interpreting music according to his sensibilities and intuition, and his technique of masterfully fusing Western and Asian aesthetics.
