Nagasaki International University Summer Vacation For International Student “Tono” experiences Program in Hasami-2023(August 21, 22, 23)

Beginning of day -1:
# I had the opportunity to participate in all three days of this program. On the first day there we learned about the history of HASAMI. The history of the HASAMI industry is about 400 years old.
# After that we went to visit the surroundings of this place.

# There we were able to see various beautiful products and we were able to see photos of the history of this place and it appeared that they had created various decorations.

# Then we got ready to make "Soba" which is a Japanese dish. I have eaten
“soba” in Japan. But this was the first time I learned how to make soba.

# It was really fun. Finally we made soba like this and then we ate it. The soba we made was not spicy. so I ate a little but I will try to make it again at home.

# Then we visited a HASAMI ware factory .It was a new experience for me. We saw that the people working in it are doing the job very skillfully.

# We had the opportunity to paint HASAMI ware and that's how our first day ended up being fun and learning a lot.
# Within the first day, I got to know the various employees of this factory, and also got to know the teachers of our university ,and I got to know the students from various countries in my university.

# My heartfelt thanks to the teachers and all the other gentlemen who taught us a lot on the first day.

2nd Day:

On the second day we walked around the pottery town with a guide.
The environment and nature around is very beautiful. At first it was hot, but after climbing the mountain, we felt good and we got very good hospitality from those people, along with delicious food and honey.

After that ,we saw the world’s second largest scale climbing site. About 160 m long, with 33 chambers. Located at the base of Mt. Shirataki, where potter stones are mined, was used as a cooperated kiln. Its importance in the history of HASAMI YAKI was recognized, and it was designated as the nation's historic site. It is now under restoration.

Then we went to find the old HASAMI.
We came across 350 year old and 200 year old HASAMI and it was really a great experience. At the end of the second day, we all had fun ,making necklaces and got a new experience.

Last Day
The last day means the third day ,we went to learn about the HASAMI industry.
On that day he taught us a lot about the HASAMI industry and we also did a small design craft experience , although it was really a fun activity and they also prepared a small game for us. It was a very fun day.

In the end we made a jumbo pizza and baked it in a HASAMI YAKI kiln. There was a teacher who taught us how to make it properly. The jumbo pizza was very tasty and I learned a lot from this experience and had fun. Thanks a lot to that staff.
A lot of memorable events happened and a lot of fun and I learned a lot . Definitely a place where you can learn a lot of things. I really recommend it. Special thanks to the staff for teaching us everywhere.
I also express my heartfelt thanks to the teachers of my university for involving me in this journey.
