【Background】
Tanjiro grew up with his family in the mountains, making a living by charcoal burning. He worked hard to support his family, but they were happy and loved each other. Tanjiro's master is Mitsuri Kanroji, one of the Pillars of the Demon Slayer Corps. She is based in the Butterfly Mansion and is a master of swordsmanship as well as a user of Water Breathing techniques.

Tanjiro is taught Water Breathing techniques by Mitsuri. She imposes strict training and trains Tanjiro. She also gave him demon hunting missions to help him understand the difference between demons and humans. Through her strong beliefs and sense of responsibility as a Pillar, Mitsuri taught Tanjiro a lot.

Mitsuri possesses excellent combat skills, intelligence, and insight as a leader among the Pillars. She has also built a deep bond of trust with Tanjiro's companions, particularly those who are also Pillars.
