【ビジ英徹底復習】 2022 L6 From Bike Trail to Bike Kitchen

Hello everyone.

7月21日 NHK Eテレ出演しました。

いや～　見事な出演ぶりでした。

「本多義則」と大きなフォントで紹介されたときは感動でした。田舎の母も喜んでくれました。

最初声が上ずっていましたが、後半は取り戻していましたね。

数分の出演でしたが、撮影には3時間近くかかっているのです。NHKが来るので家の中はモデルルームのようにきれいになっていました。

Eメールの例文で、Hi Riho, と始めてみたのですが、元モー娘。鞘師里保さんから「本多さん」との呼びかけをGetできました。

★buzz, (喜び・興奮などで)ワクワクする気持ち、高揚感、達成感

Cycling is a fun way to get fit - the adventure and buzz you get from coasting down hills and being outdoors means you're more likely to keep cycling regularly, compared to other physical activities that keep you indoors or require special tools or places.

Coast down …を惰性走行する　も押さえておきましょう。

buzzは動詞で「昆虫などががぶーんという音を立てる」という意味です。

★take to, 好きになる

During lockdowns, many cities saw big increases in cycling injuries when more people took to their bikes.

和訳では「乗る人が増える」とあります。DeepL先生も「乗る人が増える」となりました。

電子辞書に入っているオックスフォード句動詞辞典を初めてひいてみました。to start liking sb/sthとありました。「好きになる」ですね。

★asylum seeker, 亡命希望者

I've read that some Australian bike kitchens work to give free bikes to asylum seekers, refugees and people in need.

当然ながら「亡命を求める」は　seek asylum　です。

★scavenge, （廃品などから使えるものを）取り出す[集める]、あさる

Most parts and tools are donated or come from bikes scavenged out of landfills.

scavengerは廃品業者です。
