Some Good Shops in Kamakura

* Kamakura-Bori

Plates, trays, cups, tea caddies, and anything in between, are artfully carved from katsura timber and then lacquered in several layers and polished to bring out beautiful patterns and shapes. Products usually take about one month to finish, including time for the many layers of lacquer to dry. The resulting product is very durable and can be used for generations if taken properly care of. Traditional designs include lions, peony flowers, and various arabesque patterns, but today more modern designs and patterns are also used.

* Japanese Sweets

TOSHIMAYA 豊島屋

If you want to get Japanese Cookie, the signature one is a good choice. It is called "HATO-SABURE 鳩サブレ" ”HATO" means pigeon. I suppose this name is from pigeons at Tsurugaoka-Hachimangu in Kamakura.

OGAWAKEN   小川軒

This confectionery store is famous for its "Raisinwich," a traditional delicacy made by sandwiching aromatic rum raisins and rich buttercream in a butter sablé.

La Boutique Yukinoshita

They have the most delicious macaron in Japan - it's just my opinion :D  If you get their macaron, you could have it for a few days because the cream is fresh. Enjoy!
