EnnichiEnnichi is a kind of festival : a place of noise, crowds, and happiness, a time for memories, and candy apples. Temples and shrines have their Ennichi on each of their special anniversaries but the Ennichi has always been special for children and the child in us. Anybody can remember holding somebody’s hand just gazing at the red and white lanterns, or having a bite of cotton candy while walking along the different shops. In our daily lives we tend to meet routine after routine after routine Of course, this is what makes life possible, what builds un our society. But every once in a while we do need a bit of spice, a bit of magic. Ennichi is something that always reminds us of this.EnnichiEnnichi is a kind of festival. It is traditionally held by a temple or by a shrine on a certain day every month. Each temple and shrine has its own fixed day for ennichi. The purpose of ennichi is in a shrine to praise the god enshrined, and in a temple to let people remember their ancestors buried there. Because a lot of people gather on an ennichi day, some thought of earning money from them. Nowadays we can see a lot of vending booths along a main street which leads to the main area of a temple or a shrine. These days people go out on an ennichi day to enjoy looking at or buying things from the booths rather than to worship.FansFans are used to create an artificial current of air, on a hot summer day. They are made of thin and slender ribs of bamboo, upper half of them being covered with paper. There are two kinds of fans, one is called the shut and the other the open fan. The former is always carried abroad, for it is opened and folded up with equal facility. The latter is generally used in the house ; but, when we stroll about, on a hot summer evening, we take sometimes, an open fan. Some of the shut fans, are smaller in size and more elegantly painted than the usual one. These are for ladies’ use and they are of very high prices. Sometimes, the ribs are made of iron and the fencer in the feudal ages, carried this heavy and large fan. Both open and shut fans are exported to foreign countries every year.
