小学生がるろうに剣心最終章（The Beginning）を見るべき理由

今回は、今話題の映画

・るろうに剣心

について、フィリピンの英語の先生と雑談しました！

ぼくがめちゃくちゃファンなので熱くなってしまいました（笑）海外の視点が知れてめちゃくちゃおもしろかったです！剣心はどの国でも愛されているんですね！早速の本題に入りましょう！※少しもストーリーを知りたくないひとは読まないで下さい。

1. 外国でのるろうに剣心の評判は？

あらたつ先生: 日本の映画は見たことありますか？
Have you watched Japanese movies before?

ガブリエル先生(ペンネーム): あまりないですね。見たことないです。
I'm not quite sure. I think I haven't.

あらたつ先生: 笑
I see. Don’t worry! Haha

ガブリエル先生: 笑　あらたつ先生が好きな日本の映画について教えて下さい。
Hahaha! Tell me about your favorite Japanese movie.

あらたつ先生: その前に、ぶっちゃけ、フィリピンの人はあまり日本の映画は見ないんですか？
Before that, frankly, don’t people in the Philippines watch Japanese movies very often? Haha

ガブリエル先生: みんなはどうかはわからないです。ただ、日本の映画はここの映画館では見られないです。
I'm not sure about others. But Japanese movies are not shown in movie theaters here. 

あらたつ先生: なるほど！
I see!

ガブリエル先生: １つ思い出したと思います。ホラー映画です。
I think I remember one. It's a horror movie.

あらたつ先生: 何ですか？
What’s that?

ガブリエル先生: リング、呪怨。この２つ。映画館で見たことあって、1週間悪夢を見ました。
Ring., The Grudge. Those two horror movies. I've seen those in movie theaters, and they gave me nightmares for a week. 

あらたつ先生: （笑）
Haha

ガブリエル先生: 本当です！
Really!

あらたつ先生: ホラー映画は好きじゃないです。
I don't like horror movies.I know how you feel!

ガブリエル先生: 笑
LOL

あらたつ先生:笑　ホラー映画が流行った時期がありました！
Hahaha! There was a time in Japan where horror movies were trendy! 

ガブリエル先生: ありましたね！2000年くらい？
That's true. 2000s. 

あらたつ先生: でもガブリエル先生と同じであまり好きではなかったです（笑）
Though I do not like them very much like you. Haha

ガブリエル先生: どんなジャンルが好きですか？
What genres do you like?

あらたつ先生: えーと
Hmmm

ガブリエル先生: ロマンス？
Romance?

あらたつ先生: ホラー映画を除けば、どんな映画でも基本オッケーです！笑
Any movies are basically okay but for horror ones! Haha

ガブリエル先生: 爆笑。僕はラブコメにハマってます。
Hahaha I am into rom-com movies.

あらたつ先生: いいですね！
Good!

ガブリエル先生: あらたつ先生の一番好きな日本の映画は何ですか？
What do you consider as your all-time favorite Japanese movie?

あらたつ先生: 好きな映画の１つは、「るろうに剣心」で英語タイトルは「サムライエックス」かも？聞いたことありますか？
One of my favorite movies is “Ruroni Kenshin”, whose English title may be Samurai X. Have you ever heard it?

ガブリエル先生: アニメシリーズを見ました。お姉ちゃんと僕は放課後、見ていました。だけどフィリピン語の吹き替えでしたね。
I've seen the animated series. My sister and I used to watch it in the afternoon after school. But it was dubbed in Filipino language.

あらたつ先生: いいですね！どうでしたか？
That’s good! How was it?

ガブリエル先生: アニメ版かなりよかったです。映画版があるなんて知らなかったです。
We enjoyed the animated one. I did not know there is a film adaptation.

あらたつ先生: 新しいシリーズが公開されるので、ファンは興奮してますよ！笑
The new series will be released, so the fans are getting excited! Haha

ガブリエル先生: 映画版？
The film series? 

あらたつ先生: はい
Yes!

ガブリエル先生: いつ公開されるんですか？
When is the date of release?

あらたつ先生: 新しいシリーズ「るろうに剣心 The Begining」は、6月4日に公開されます。
The new series, Ruroni Kenshin The Beginning will be released on June 4th!

ガブリエル先生: 2日後！
In two days.

あらたつ先生: はい！
Yes!

ガブリエル先生: 剣心の映画はいくつありますか？
How many Kenshin movies are there?

あらたつ先生: 4つリリースされました。
They have already released 4. 

ガブリエル先生: なんで僕と姉は知らなかったんでしょうか？汗
Wow! Why didn't I and my sister know this?

あらたつ先生: なので次は5つ目です！
So the next one is 5!

ガブリエル先生: いいですね！剣心の映画がオンラインで見れますかね。なぜ1番好きなんですか？
Great! I hope Kensin movies are available online. Why is this your all-time favorite?

あらたつ先生: アニメに基づいた実写版でめちゃくちゃヒットしましたよ！
There are live action movies based on the animation! They made big hits!

ガブリエル先生: そうなんですね！！
Wow! Really?!? 

あらたつ先生: るろうに剣心に関してですが、なぜ好きなんですか？フィリピンでも人気がありますか？
As to Ruroni Kenshin, why do you like it? Is it popular in the Philippines?

ガブリエル先生: メインキャラクターが本当にかっこよく見えるからです。暴力的な部分を除いては、彼のようになりたかったです。日本のアニメは、午前と午後にテレビで放送されていました。僕の友達と僕は、家に帰ってアニメを見るのが楽しみでした。
Because the main characters seems really cool. I wanted to be like him except for the violence. Japanese animated series used to be aired on TV in the morning and afternoon. My friends and I were looking forward to going home and watching Japanese anime.

あらたつ先生: いいですね。
That’s good!

ガブリエル先生: 日本ではどうですか？テレビでは放送されましたか？
What about in Japan? Do they air animated series on TV?

あらたつ先生: はい！子どものとき、めちゃくちゃ人気がありました！！！
Sure! When I was a child, it was really popular!!!

ガブリエル先生: ですよね！
That’s true.

あらたつ先生: るろ剣についてどう思いますか？
What do you think and feel about the story? I am just curious!

ガブリエル先生: 正直なところ、少し暴力的でした。ですが、子どもにとっては、めちゃくちゃかっこよかったです、彼のようになりたかったです。
It was a bit violent, to be honest. But as a kid, it was really cool. I wanted to be as cool as him.

あらたつ先生: なるほど！ストーリーについてはどうですか？日本の歴史に基づいているので、興味があります。
I see! How about the story? I am curious because it is based on a Japanese story.

ガブリエル先生: それが問題なんです。はっきり覚えてないんです。詳細を思い出すことができません。犬夜叉でさえそうです。犬夜叉知ってますか？
That's the problem. My memory doesn't serve me right. But I cannot remember the details. Even with Inuyasha. Do you know Inuyasha?

あらたつ先生: 聞いたことはありますが、みたことないですね。るろ剣をもう一回見てください！ストーリーが本当に深いんです！
I know the name of Inuyasha but I have never wanted it. Please watch Ruroni Kenshin again! Haha The story is really deep!

ガブリエル先生: 日本のアニメがやってないんです。見るならオンラインですね！友達の多くがナルトにハマってます。
They don't air Japanese animations anymore. If we really want to watch Japanese animations, we can find them online. Many of my friends are crazy about Naruto.

あらたつ先生: 僕もナルト好きです！Netflixでみるのはどうですか？
I like Naruto, too! How about watching it on Netflix? 

ガブリエル先生: ネットフリックスにあるんですか？日本のとは違います。
I am not sure if it's on Netflix? Netflix Philippines shows different series than of Japan's.

あらたつ先生: 日本では見られますよ！
Yes! In Japan, I can watch it!

ガブリエル先生: いいですね！VPNを使うべきですね！
Wow! I should use VPN.

2. 初心者でもわかる！るろうに剣心ってどんな話？

あらたつ先生: るろ剣のストーリーを説明していいですか？
Can I explain the story of Ruroni Kenshin? 

ガブリエル先生: 是非！お願いします！
Sure. I'd love to.

あらたつ先生: 日本に平和をもたらすために多くの人を殺した若い青年、剣心のストーリーです。
This is the story of a young man, Kenshin, who killed many people for creating peace in Japan.

ガブリエル先生: なるほど！
Please tell me more about it.

あらたつ先生: 剣心が、剣士、ここで言うサムライとして、日本を平和にするために多くの人を斬りながら、自分がやっていることが正しいかどうか考え始めます。
However, while he was killing many people to make the Japanese peaceful as a swordsman, which we call Samurai, he started to think what he was doing was right or not. 

ガブリエル先生: なるほど。
That's right.

あらたつ先生: それゆえに、人を斬ることを止め、自分がやったことを後悔します。彼はストーリーの中で、新しい時代で、自分がやったことを償おうとします。これは深いテーマで、彼は、平和な世界を作るために多くの人を殺めましたが、それは許されるべきでしょうか？
Therefore, he stopped killing people and he regretted what he did. He tries to expiate what he did in a new era in the story! This is a deep theme, he killed many people to create a peaceful world but should it be forgivable? 

ガブリエル先生: 考えるべき問題です。
Great question.

あらたつ先生: 正義は人それぞれです。
Justices depend on each person.

ガブリエル先生: そう！
You have a point.

あらたつ先生: ですが、剣心は、彼の考えや、やっていることが完全に正しいと信じてしまって、人のために人を殺しました。僕が好きなところの１つは、剣心の師匠は、彼の剣を権力のために使うべきではないと教えていたところです。
But Kenshin used to completely believe that what he was thinking and doing was right, so he cannot help killing opponents for people. One of the points which I like is Kenshin’s mentor was teaching him that he should not use his sword for power.

ガブリエル先生: あー！師匠の名前は何でしたっけ？思い出せない。
Oh! What's the name of the mentor? I couldn't remember.

あらたつ先生: 比古清十郎

ガブリエル先生: 思い出せません！本当に出てきません（笑）女性のキャラクターがいたのは思い出せますが。
I can't remember him. I really cannot remember him. Hehehe. I remember there was a female character.

あらたつ先生: るろ剣は、剣心が新しい時代で償えるかどうかの話です。多くの人が仲間や家族を殺されたので、剣心を恨んでいます。
This is the story about whether Kenshin expiates in a new era or not! In the story, many people curse Kenshin because he killed their companions or families.

ガブリエル先生: 僕が彼らなら、自分も同じことをしていたと思います。
I would do the same if I were them.

あらたつ先生: 言いたいことはわかりますが、剣心が多くの人を助けたのも事実です。
I know what you mean but what Kenshin did helped many people.

ガブリエル先生: ある意味では。ですが暴力がその答えではありません。
Maybe or in a way. But violence isn't the answer.

あらたつ先生: たしかに！
Right!

ガブリエル先生: 他の方法はたくさんあります。
There are many other ways to solve a problem. 

あらたつ先生: でも、剣心が何もしなかったら、もっとひとが殺されていたかもしれません。
But, if Kenshin did nothing, more people might have been killed.

ガブリエル先生: もしかしたら。彼には選択肢がなかった。
Maybe. So he was left with no choice. 

あらたつ先生: 師匠は、目の前の人を守るべきで、時代の流れを変えようとすべきではない、と剣心に教えていました。でも、剣心は全く理解できていなかった。
His mentor had taught him that he should protect the people in front of him and he should not try to change the current flow of the era. But he did not understand it at all.

ガブリエル先生: 誤解したのかもしれませんね。
He might have misunderstood.

3. るろうに剣心を子どもが見るべき5つの理由

あらたつ先生: 学校でこのストーリーを道徳教育として使って欲しいです。次回作では、なぜ剣心が多くの人を殺めたのかを説明します。漫画版ですでに読みましたが、今まで見た中でNo.1です！
I would like public schools to use the story as a moral lesson. The new film's upcoming plotline will explain why Kenshin killed so many people! I had already read the animated story, but it was the best one I had ever seen!

ガブリエル先生: おー！彼のキャラクターからモラルの教訓として何を学びましたか？
Wow! What moral lesson have you learned from his character?

あらたつ先生: めちゃくちゃ学びましたよ！「正義は人それぞれ」
I have learned many: 1)Justice depends on each person

ガブリエル先生: その通り！
Right 

あらたつ先生: 「暴力は暴力を産む」
2)Violence produces violence.

ガブリエル先生: まさに！
Right! 

あらたつ先生: 「無邪気さは時には危険」。これに関しては、剣心が抜刀斎になったのが、若すぎました。剣心は自分が感じたことが正しいとことだと、ただ信じてしまった。
3)Innocence is sometimes dangerous.
About 3, Kenshin was too young when he became a killer, so he just believed in what he felt is right...

ガブリエル先生: ですね。
Yes. 

あらたつ先生: 「時代の流れに従うことも重要」
4) Following with the flow of the era is sometimes important.

ガブリエル先生: 特に、文化では。
Especially in your culture.

あらたつ先生: 「たくさん経験している人は素晴らしいことを教えてくれるが、若い人は多くを経験するまで理解できないこともある。」
5) People with a lot of experiences teach wonderful things, but young people don't always grasp until they've had a lot of experiences.

ガブリエル先生: ですね。
I totally agree with that.

あらたつ先生: いずれにせよ、るろうに剣心は多くの教訓があります。
Anyway, Ruroni Kenshin has many lessons!!!!! Haha

ガブリエル先生: 5つあげましたね。考えるべきものばかりです。彼のキャラクターは、日本の若者が今でも共感できるものだと思いますか?
You gave me five. Those are great points to ponder. Do you think his character is something young Japanese people can still relate to?

あらたつ先生: 僕の意見では、残念ですが、自分を含め、他人に従うように教育されているので、自分自身の正義を持っている人はほとんどいないと思います。
Sadly, in my opinion, young people in Japan including me are educated to obey others so few people have their own justice.

ガブリエル先生: 確かに。
True.

あらたつ先生: ある意味、彼を尊敬すべきです。しかし彼がやったことは正しくありません。
In a sense, we should respect him. But what he did is not right!

ガブリエル先生: 現代なら刑務所入りですね。
He might be in jail if he is living in our time. 

あらたつ先生: たしかに（笑）
Right ! Haha

ガブリエル先生: 江戸時代でしたっけ？
Edo era, right?

あらたつ先生: そうです！
Yes!

ガブリエル先生: おー！覚えています。
Wow, I remember it. 

あらたつ先生:とにかく、もう一度僕のために見るべきです！笑
Anyway, you should watch it for me, again! Haha
