【歌詞和訳】My darling Clementine（映画『荒野の決闘』の主題歌）

原曲は、スペインの古い曲で、
アメリカ、カリフォルニアのゴールドラッシュの時代（1848-1855）
最初に金鉱堀り（forty-niners）を始めた人にはスペイン系が多く、
歌われていたという
今日の歌は、
H.S. Thompsonによる “Down by the River Liv'd a Maiden”（1863）が原詩とされ、
西暦1884年にPercy Montross（一説によればBarker Bradford）が改めて作曲
ジョン フォード（John Ford 1894-1974, USA）の映画で主題歌に使用され、一般化する
