【歌詞和訳】The Green Leaves of Summer（夏の緑の葉）／The Brothers Four

テキサスで未来技術の「燃料電池」の展示会が開かれたときに、
そばに歴史が横たわっていた
ジョン ウェイン（John Wayne, 1907-1979, アメリカ）制作主演の『アラモ（The Alamo）』の舞台、
そこに小さな教会（キリスト教伝道所）の跡があった

 西暦1716年、アメリカ大陸原住民へのキリスト教布教のために
スペインによって伝道施設が建設される
西暦1824年、メキシコ合衆国が成立
西暦1836年2月23日～3月6日、
メキシコ軍（約1600名）とテキサス分離独立派（約200名）との戦闘が起こる
分離独立派のおほよそ全員が戦死、生き残った者も（女子供と奴隷とを除いて）銃殺された

 ハリウッド映画では、アメリカ側に正義ありと描く
実際にここに立つと必ずしも真の歴史はそうではない....
（ウクライナにいるロシア人が独立を叫び、ロシアが反乱軍に加担する....理屈はそれに等しい）

 "The Green Leaves of Summer"（夏の緑の葉）は、
アメリカ全土から集まって、ほぼ全滅した分離独立派の人々の郷愁を歌う
