Gangbusters Interview Part 2「Bringing in fan activities from outside the ecosystem with blockchain technology」

In October, Bandai Namco Entertainment 021 Fund announced its investment in Gangbusters Ltd., a producer of a social game that utilizes blockchain technology.

Gangbuster’s has cultivated a very active community of users. By combining their expertise in community management with their many years of experience in developing web2 games, they aim to expand their existing community.

To understand their initiatives and approach to Web 3, we interviewed the CEO of Gangbusters, Mr. Brandon Wu. In this part, we will be discussing the future of Gangbusters.
(Please read Part1 from link below)

Part 2:Future Plans for Gangbusters

Kazama
Brandon, I guess the airdrop is your first step, but what are your plans after that?

Brandon
In the future, we plan to provide more utilities for the Gangbusters NFTs.

Ownership is the main feature of NFTs, so we will highlight that by allowing users to use their NFTs not only in BattleTabs but also in other services.
In addition, we will use the NFTs to bring more “meta-meta-game” activities like the self-organized tournaments and fanarts into our ecosystem.

Right now, we are preparing a genesis collection that can be used as playable assets in BattleTabs, and we are also developing a prototype version of our next service that allows users to interact with the same NFTs in a different way.
After that, we will open-source different tools to enable users to engage in UGC activities using the NFTs we released. Users are already coming up with other ideas for fan-made games, so we want to bring them into our community.

Kazama
So Gangbusters will officially provide new utilities for the NFTs, but you will also bring activities that usually occur in the meta or meta-meta layer into your community to expand the entire Gangbusters community.

Brandon
That’s correct. We can also achieve interoperability with third-party content if we use blockchain technology. We are talking to external parties like Fractal and are exchanging information.

Fractal introduced their ”Dynamic NFTs”, a collection of NFTs that users can upgrade by playing different games on Fractal. Thanks to this new feature, we can expect players of other Fractal games to start playing BattleTabs and vice versa.

What Fractal is doing matches our community-driven vision and serves as a great case study for us.

Kazama
Looking into the future, are there any ideas to collaborate with Bandai Namco following the investment?

Brandon
Bandai Namco has many IPs that have been beloved for a long time, and the ability to create content using those IPs is what makes the company unique. I can learn a lot from you when creating our own IPs, so I would love to talk with everyone at Bandai Namco.

On the other hand, we have accumulated a lot of insight in the Web3 space, so we can provide various assets if you’d like to use our system to create something with your IPs or have your IPs appear in our content.

I believe we can create new and unique content/services by combining our expertise with Bandai Namco’s impressive collection of IPs, so please feel free to contact me if there’s anything we can do!

Also, I grew up in Taiwan, where Bandai Namco’s IPs significantly impacted many people’s childhood. I enjoyed and was inspired by your content, and I hope to do the same thing with Gangbusters’ content.

Kazama
We will definitely keep communicating for future collaboration.
Thank you so much for taking the time today.
I learned many things, including how you approach Web3 and involve fan-driven activities into your community.

Brandon
I really appreciate the opportunity.
I was able to reorganize my thoughts by actually outputting my ideas.
